He beats Canelo 8-4 and gets robbed of a win via draw or 115-113. Based on current performances at 168 he loses 8-4 against Canelo. I say this after watching Canelos fight against Jacobs. Jacobs gave away half the fight but even in that first half neither was actually landing that many punches and one or two rounds could justifiably be given to Jacobs. Canelos performance against Jacobs was good but not overly impressive and Jacobs arguably won 5-6 rounds. Billy Joe at 160 is in my opinion a better fighter than Jacobs.. More intelligent, better defence, faster feet /hands and more active in the ring. In summary if BJS turns up like he does for some of his wins at 160 he wins, If he continues the trend of poor performances at 168 then he looses
I think the ship of Saunders performing like he did against Lemieux at 160 has sailed: the bouts of inactivity and not staying in top condition has seen to that.
4.6: Power punches landed per round by Saunders, third lowest among all tracked active fighters by CompuBox. 47.3%: Percentage of power punches landed by Canelo, according to CompuBox -- second most among all active fighters (just .2% behind No. 1 Miguel Berchelt). Canelo also lands 37.4% of his total punches (also second to Berchelt).
saunders does have skills but he doesnt always show them. but this is typical (canelo will lose) before every other fight. maybe it happens this time we shall see.
And in turn after that aren't we supposed to wonder who and what level of fighter each did this against.......?
Maybe it's guys the caliber of John Molina Jr, Jose Benavidez, Julius Indongo, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Gabe Rosado, Jazza Dickens and Liborio Solis?
This exactly too inactive too inconsistent . it’s been a looooong time since he was too slick too Gypsy. he won’t win the decision. Everyone but his team apparently seems to knows this.
Sure, whatever floats your boat. But we all know Canelo has fought a much higher class of opposition than Saunders has, let's not play games here.
If Saunders Turns up and performs like he did at 160.............. HES GETTING KNOCKED OUT QUICKER!!!!!
Go watch round 10 of Delahoya/Trinidad. Back in the day, and even today, Oscar is accused of "running the last three rounds". I think that round 10 of that fight could look a lot like what I expect from Saunders/Alvarez but how will it be judged? The funny thing is that the standards have changed. If you go watch that round again, you will see a fighter on the back foot, picking his spots to attack but staying safe......a style that Floyd Mayweather was applauded for throughout his later career. Would Billy Joe be applauded if he did the same to Canelo? In my honest opinion, I think Canelo is a better pure boxer than Trinidad was (blasphemy, I know) and I expect him to adapt an not let BJS have his way for too many rounds.
