I expect the difference to be in the first 4 rounds or thereabout. Very tentative, low scoring, looking for position, gaps etc. Which means Canelo will be 4-0 up at that point. Then it will be trading rounds for the next 8, with Billy Bob doing his thing on the outside (stick and run), with Canelo hunting him down. The partial judges would have an easy job to get Canelo a 116-112, 117-111 or thereabout win.
The scorecards are already filled out in Canelo’s favor but I expect this to be a close tactical match. BJS will force Canelo to move and Canelo will be looking to counter and cut off the ring. Canelo hasn’t looked great against technical boxers, especially southpaws, over the years and BJS, if he’s as fit and motivated as he looks in the videos leading up to this fight, has the technical ability to make Canelo miss and make him work. Canelo has a better gas tank than he did earlier in his career but I could see him getting tired and slowing his output in the second half of the fight. There is a good chance BJS outboxes, and makes Canelo look bad at times. Canelo will have his moments but my admittedly biased prediction is that BJS will do enough to win (like GGG especially the first fight) and Canelo will get another “controversial” AKA gift, decision from the corrupt judges in his slimy pocket. It’s okay, the Canelo ginger-ball suckers will celebrate as if he actually won legitimately. They might concede the one judge who gave Canelo every round was a bit generous but this will not dampen their enthusiasm for their chemically enhanced Ginger Hulk hero.
With 2:49 left in the first round, the real battle begins. BJS has collapsed and out in the crowd a swollen, cirrhotic liver is being used a beach ball. Will the fans give BJS his liver back? Can they find a transplant in time?
This is a very interesting match up one that on paper has the potential to be a great fight. Bjs is skilled operator and does alot of things that trouble Canelo but like I said earlier his lack of comp and big fight experience will come back to haunt him here. I think bjs will look to start fast and set the tone with his movement and speed he will look to get in and out and be the ring general. I do think canelo will struggle early because he hasn't fought someone like this in a very long time he might even get frustrated at times but eventually he will figure him out and start to walk bjs down cut the ring and go to bjs body which will slow down bjs feet. I expect this to occur around round 7 or 8 where bjs even at his best starts to tire and get lazy at times but in a fight of this magnitude and the pressure Canelo is putting on his body will start to take its toll. He will start to become more stationary and will have no choice but to stand his ground and fight which imo won't end well for him. I think canelo stops him in around 10 rounds. Can bjs win yes but he better come in the best shape of his life and be ready to fight 12 rounds on the move working behind a jab. If he can do what Lara did in the first 6 rounds against Canelo and not fade the second half like Lara did he could pull off the upset I don't think he can but he's a live dog. My final prediction is canelo tko 10.
Clenelo isn't really a good ring cutter, though. Couldn't get GGG to the ropes once in 24 rounds. And GGG isn't a runner.
Ggg is a big puncher bjs isn't. Canelo had to be weary of gggs power not the same with bjs. Even still ggg despite not being fast has good footwork and a high ring iq it's not easy to do that to ggg.
Having another go, just in case I was wrong the first time. On his ringwalk Saunders reveals his new persona, Spencer Percival the Victorian Fighting Wit. In top hat, cape and monocle he skips to the ring, twirling his cane, then once in the ring he is brought a microphone. "Behold," he cries, like a vaudevillian villain. "For tonight boxing has a new voice! 'Tis I, Spencer Percival, the Victorian Fighting Wit! Now look at my voice with your ears as I regale you with my sardonic smack! "Canelo, they call him, yes? How appropriate, for after tonight's pugilistic performance, he shall be known only as... Tomato Can-elo! Ahaha!" This tame joke won't go down too well with those looking on. Unperturbed, he tries again. "I hear mine opponent has a fondness for the flesh of the cow. Well mayhaps, after he doth taste the steel in mine fisticular blows, that he finds himself fresian! Fresian! Like the cow, you see? Freezing. Oh yes, very good!" An uncomfortable silence follows, punctuated only by some embarrassed coughing. From the back of the arena someone cries "Get on with it". "I... Sir, you dishonour me with your impudence!", protests Saunders, visibly flustered. "Had I known that tonight, I were to be fighting amongst people so low-born and uncouth, I dare say I shouldn't have bothered! For shame, that man, for shame!" Then he's interrupted by Canelo's ringwalk starting and the fight plays out like George Crowcroft's prediction or whatever.
watching fights is more fun when you got a little skin in the game, like a bet. this way nobody loses anything and i have other memories from that fight.
Not so sure PW, this the 1st time I've seen Canelo a bit venomous , his eyes lit up when BJS & his dad went on about the "Beef"....I think he DOES want to punish BJS, so can BJS avoid the onslaught & turn that into his advantage? BJS has made this recipe lets hope he can take the Spice that's coming at him...I very much doubt it will be boring , I haven't looked forward to a fight like this since Barrera Absolutely spanked & schooled Hamed HA ha Never has someone been more deserving of the humiliation that baby face gave him Lol.
i dont think it will be competitive, but the crazy analysis from all the fans got me looking to see whats really going to happen, and how fans deal with what they thought would happen. without all the hopes, this wouldnt interest me any more than the smith fight did.
