I should have done this at start of the week but nevermind ....

I challenge anybody to watch the last 4 fights of both bjs and canelo and make a reasonable case of why you think bjs will win this fight...

One's on a upwards trajectory or at the peak and one hasn't put in a decent performance against lesser tier opponents in last 4 fights and been hurt in twice of them.

Can't make a reasonable case for BJS at SMW. Don't care if he looks in the best shape ever, Tony Bellew did for Usyk but he was still absolutely knackered by just over half way through the fight, the same will happen here.

Hope I'm wrong, would like a brit to win.

Mate we’re just a few hours away now. About 12 hours. Let’s just wait and see what happens. I have high expectations of Saunders here and if he disappoints, clearly he’s not as good as I, and others, think he is.

He isnt as good. He maybe could have been but he just hasnt dedicated himself to his craft to operate the way he wants to at this level

Could you just explain why you have high hopes though?...it cannot be due to past performances ?

I can only think it's blind faith ?

I’ve given my reasons before in other threads. I think all evidence suggests that Canelo struggles more against movers and Especially against southpaws because the last time he faced one was Lara and the result was debatable to say the least. Saunders for me is more talented than Lara. I rate Saunders jab very highly. You asked us to look at Canelo’s last four wins as some sort of benchmarking for deciding this fight. Yildirim and Smith are awful comparators. Saunders won’t just stick in their in front Canelo, he’s going to be mobile as hell. And those four wins include Kovalev who was outboxing Canelo for the majority of the fight before the stoppage.

Styles make fights and I think Saunders’ style is going to be hard for Canelo to start timing his punches. Like I said if it doesn’t materialise like I think it could then clearly I’ve overrated Saunders’ ability at this elite level.

Another point is that those last four Canelo wins include Jacobs too. Jacobs who was just given a gift decision against seasoned journeyman Rosado. Saunders for me would box rings around Jacobs.

So when you consider the point you made, consider also the opponents. Smith and Kovalev were good wins but Smith was tailor made for Canelo and Kovalev was past his prime with known stamina issues. Been KO’d before.

I think rather than focus on their resumes you need to analyse Canelo and Saunders stylistically. Of course you can still make an overwhelming case for Canelo but you have to also acknowledge the Lara fight which, albeit took place years ago, was the last time Canelo boxed a southpaw.

On recent form of course have to pick canelo. Styles make fights but think canelo will prove he is levels above Saunders , may be wrong (comes to predictions usually am lol ) but think canelo will be out to prove a point tonight and stop bjs

You are throwing names around saying Saunders would beat them too....my point is he's done the square sum of nack all to prove that....why is he better than Lara?
    Why would he beat Jacobs?
He's fighting nobodies and struggling ..
He's done nothing to show he should be in a ring with canelo..
Smith was the best 168 lb in world by everyone's opinion and got battered...Smith was a live opponent and got splattered..
I've heard so many ' BJ's has the style to beat canelo ' without one person creating a decent shout

Yildrem would have beaten BJ's last 4 opponents

None of this is relevant but I don’t think Yildirim would actually be a cert to even beat a shot to **** Murray. Yildirim is the definition of a pudding tbh.

Past opponents are irrelevant, it’s just about the fight. You could say that Saunders’ lack of world level opponents has left him unprepared for this stage but it’s about styles more than anything. Like I said if Saunders can take Canelo’s punches it’s an interesting fight. He’s not going to be a sitting duck like Yildirim and Smith.

What you are saying is that you've got a pony that's won a few point to point races ,been inactive over last 5 years and you think it's gonna win Grand National ...

It makes no sense ,it's just blind faith .

Nah I’m not that invested lol. I just like boxing, have analysed the fight based on Canelo’s performances against movers and southpaws and have come to the conclusion that Saunders can outbox Canelo in stages at the very least.

If I’m wrong, I’m wrong, I don’t really care that much. Largely hoping for a competitive fight after pudding Yildirim’s “performance” against Canelo.

Who thinks Saunders will win this bout? I've seen a few people, including myself, that give him a chance to get robbed on the cards, but that's it.

It seems to me that some people are getting annoyed that other people think he has a mere chance.

A lot of people are hedging their bets saying oh BJ's style could win this but canelo will probably get dodgy decision etc... Just in case a shock happens they will pretend they predicted it...

It's like when people say ...

Either fighter A wins on points
    Or
    Fighter B wins by k.o

You're basically picking both horses in 2 horse race
