    Why?

    this is H2H...

I'm trying to account for Great fighters, irrespective of titles and I have always believed and seen JJW fit & better than 'most' HWs in history.

    Is that so unrealistic?

on Walcotts best night, he could beat damn near anyone.

He was unbeatable as champion for a number of years. I respect the views of those that saw him like Ray Arcel. Knocked the block off a few giants too. Dempsey Enhanced the standing of the sport as we know it today.

    5. Foreman
    4. Holmes
    3. Liston
    2. Louis
    1. Ali

Top 3 are a lock for me. 4. and 5. was between Foreman, Holmes, and Lewis. Feel very bad about leaving him out. Tyson and FOTC Frazier could also make the list. I suspect Fury will eventually make it once his career is all said and done.

Agree. He has a great career as a champion. A mean SOB for sure, but c'mon H2H, he should be way down the list.

This is a contradiction. Is it head-to-head or are you accounting for great fighters?

Walcott was a beast, but on his best night, he failed to beat an old Joe Louis, and the versions of Ezzard Charles who was in his prime (in two attempts). He also failed to beat others like Maxim, Layne and Ray. Holmes on his best night was better. Obviously. And so was Charles.

Nonononono, don't do that champ! Fury is never gonna make it to the top 5!
FOTC frazier deserve a spot in the top 15, and Prime Tyson is in the top 10.
Foreman? C'mon, he can't be a stern test for anyone like his mentor Liston. Maybe if George decided to fight with the skills Sonny taught him how to use, he May have ended up in this list.

JJW was No Spring Chicken either in those matches.

and IF I remember rightly, one of his fights with Louis was Q'd, likewise he just about had Marciano, this at the very end of his own long career.

Lost some fights to other TOP Men, so what, is that not how Boxing goes, or should at least.

on his Best Night, he is Better than Most of his Contemporaries, especially those 'lost' matches you refer too.

JJW was a great fighter, throughout the whole of his career, and what he managed to do 'late on' is further proof of that.

just like a Moore or Cerdan, by comparison.
