I think at 160 and 168 he was a beast, no question. 160 is a very deep division though, so I can understand some not having him there. I most likely would. Also for certain at 168. I'm a lot less sure about him at 175. Certainly a force, but top 5? Someone would have to convince me with a strong argument.
Roy Jones was the closest thing to untouchable in his prime at the 168 range. Not sure what footage people are looking at when they say Ezzard Charles would easily beat him. It can't be the footage we have of Roy in his prime.

I have no idea how you could possibly make such a confident statement about Langford given how little footage we have and the quality. It's an incredible leap of faith.
I exaggarated a bit with "beating the **** of" but I do think that Langford would beat Jones. We have enough footage of prime Sam (3 almost full fights) to conclude how he fought.
I'd bet Lloyd Marshall would beat him, Marshall was RJJ before Roy was even thought of. and guess what Marshall wasn't the only such stylist. SRR, JJW other 'Cuties' too, who were less appreciated then, than they are now.
This isn't a case of making excuses. Jofre was weight drained. It's not an excuse, it's a fact and even if he wasn't, I've always thought Harada beats him anyway. So I'm not making excuses. 'The Jap' barely won two close decisions by the slimmest of margins. Please actually understand what you're on about before talking out your ass. Saying he couldn't do anything with Harada is completely disingenuous and inaccurate. And yes, I have boxed. I've just managed to do it without picking up the same dire snobbishness that you have.
