Leonard found that out the hard way much to the displeasure of his fans who by the way, resemble this guy -------> :|
Even Norris himself in an interview stated that Leonard was totally shot and he could have taken him out if he wanted to. But he had alot of respect for Sugar Ray. & He even felt bad for beating Leonard the way he did. But it was a golden opportunity for him and he had to take it. Simular story to a young Marciano fighting an aging Joe Louis.
Going by the swings Norris took at Leonard on the canvas i'm not so sure he could have taken him out but was holding back. Norris couldn't help himself, he just had to hit people when they were down and in range.
Yeah, But I can't remember, Didn't Santana get some kind of acting award for thier first fight?:think
Well, the Duran fight speaks a different story. No shot fighter EVER danced that way even for a couple rounds. Yet people are comparing him to Ali in the Berbick fight. That's ridiculous because Muhammad in the Holmes fight was an immobile punching bag that just stood there fixed in a corner. Sugar Ray was like a rabbit in the Duran fight and no one goes downhill without first taking his beating. Leonard stood in a corner too in the Norris fight but not before putting up a struggle (see rounds 1,2) As I said Leonard stood fixed taking a beating but that was due to paralysis from fear. The left look that dropped Ray and the terrific left uppercut that launched his head into orbit, would take the fight out of anyone. I'm sorry but that would have been too much for Leonard at any stage of his career. Ray just didnt have the experience to deal with someone this fast and unhittable. Look at the evidence: Kalule went 9 and Bonds with a little movement went 11. How do you explain that? Ray never faced anyone with Terry's speed and movement. Those make for a recipe for disaster for Sugar Ray.
