In a few years it's not going to be a question if he is an ATG, just where he ranks. I'm a Chavez Sr. fan, but Canelo is making a good case for being the best Mexican fighter of all time. His stature should be beyond local talks as well, but I also personally have Chavez Sr. high up as well.
Not many ATGs didn't get hate during their reign. I don't see Canelo getting the same disrespect that Manny and Floyd got during their peaks.
The hate for the guy is unreal. People saying Saunders was schooling him? Only way you see that is if you are Saunders biggest fan or you plain hate Canelo. Yes Saunders won a few rnds and had his moments but he was also eating power punches. Canelo landed the cleaner harder punches all night. He got the stoppage cause Canelo worked him into that uppercut. He threw that uppercutt all night with KO power behind it. So to say it was lucky punch or lucky injury is pure hate. He threw those punch with KO intention. As I've stated in my other post. Canelo now has to batter his opponent every rnd for him to win. Landing the cleaner harder shot just isn't good enough in some people's eye.
Debatable. The Pac vs May camps were pretty hateful towards each other, but fans recognized real for both fighters. Everyone knew they were ATG fighters. Canelo doesn't seem to get credit for his clearly ATG skill set and for taking the risk of fighting top fighters in an era no one else is risking it.
Lol @ Canelo getting schooled when he banked twice the rounds and stopped him in 8 rounds. It is just plain delusional. Danny Jacobs gave Canelo a much better fight and obviously GGG. I still feel like GGG is 1-1 with Canelo and could still possibly win the rubber match. Canelo is the deserved favourite mind you.
My statement on Canelo is this: "He is an elite fighter with elite level protection". Simple as that. Casuals and the media will soak it up like he is better than anyone else, best fighter in history. He is not that good, obviously, and not even close. TBH, the corruption behind him actually take a lot away from what he actually is. An elite fighter. For one, tonight the scorecards at the time of the stoppage were ridiculous. Any fighter stepping in the ring with him already KNOW that they can never win a decision against him. Considering he has a very good chin as well, it is virtually impossible to win against him. Canelo does not even have to win a round to "win" the round..... yet his opponent have to DOMINATE the round just to be given a chance to win the round.... I don't believe any fighter active today can beat Canelo's combination of elite boxing and elite protection. I don't think he is due anything either. He is making millions and has the whole media and social media behind him, he has one of the best trainers behind him, he gets off with failed drug tests, he has the biggest and most powerful promoter right now, he will most likely retire at least half way to becoming a billionaire. I think fight fans have every right to call him out on the bogus trickery going on around him. That elite level protection he has, it's killing the game.

I am a hardcore fan with a family of casuals. Even my wife stays up for canelo fights. He is a real superstar and i think he was coming on strong tonight and might have gotten a stoppage ever without the eye injury. A true master and still young
