Amir Khan for going up the weight classes and really going for it in the first three rounds. He genuinely tried to win and some of the flush shots he landed in the first and second round with his handspeed were brilliant. Beefy also went in there to win way out of his depth. Saunders went into win and produced sensational boxing until his serious injury.
No definitely not. But let’s not pretend Saunders went there to win either. He went there demanding a bigger ring to try and nick a few rounds on the run.
Liam Smith or Callum Smith. Liam for his bottle and aggression and willing to go toe to toe with Canelo and Callum for his bottle going in on short notice and going the 12 with a torn bicep from the 5th round on. Both proper fighting men and brave with plenty of heart. "Debbie Harry" BJS broke before the fight and left the ring Broner style with a towel on his head in tears. The man broke mentally and I genuinely worry about his safety and hope his family and team are around him to make sure he is safe.
I haven’t seen it yet mate. I do think you can win a fight like that but it’s very hard to keep it up as Khan proved against him. As for the ring, I don’t understand why every ring for senior amateurs and pros shouldn’t be the same size. If it was smaller than usual I can understand why Saunders would have been unhappy. It would be playing into his opponents hands but I believe if they were all the same set size there could be no arguments.
The only I can remember turning up to have a laugh and get beat was Rocky Fielding. Other than him the rest of them all went in there and did their best.
Khan. Mainly because he was totally mental to take the fight in the first place and unlike BJS he was definitely up on the cards until stoppage.
I've always rooted for Matthew, can't have been easy making his way in the sport as the brother of Ricky during Ricky's heyday.
Not often I disagree with you but if Saunders was sensational he wouldn't have got caught. Where is the credit to Canelo for landing the shot?
