Canelos bone smashing punch on BJ was from another boxing dimesnion. That was not a punch where a fighter sees an opening and throws, it was set up to land exactly how he wanted it to. In the replays from the fight you need to see the camera angle that is facing Canelo. He had been eyeing that punch up for 2 or 3 rounds and laid the trap perfectly. he comes in to BJ to draw the hook, then he digs his toes into the canvas and leans back to avoid the hook he knew was coming and then he threw his own monstrous right. Look carefully though and you will see he threw that punch not at an opening but rather to a point where he knew BJ was heading. That punch was thrown as part of a plan and it worked perfectly. Look too at the power and torque he put into the punch..that is only possible when you are planning to throw a punch, not when you are punching at an opening. And the speed it all happened at...fractions of a second. Canelo is out of this world. That was an incredible finish amd so much more to it when you look at it from the correct angle (hard to see it from the live angle).
Pretty sure this is the punch but the angle doesn't show much. Do you have a link to any other angles? This content is protected
Yes this was the punch. On DAZN they have an after fight analysis section and they show this punch from the right side of Canelo. The view is much more open and you can get a much better view of exactly what happened. Agreed that in the shot above it is hard to see what happened. Canelo is much faster than he gets credit for.
Seeing it in slow-mo makes you appreciate how well trained Canelo is and how quick his reflexes are. It happened so fast in real time you really needed the slow-mo to understand what happened. Billy tried to surprise Canelo with some head movement followed by quick right hook, which Canelo reacted to perfectly, pulling back ever so slightly, just enough to make Billy miss wildly. The momentum from Billy missing that hook caused him to be in range of a counter so he tried to duck down to avoid it but as he ducked Canelo timed that uppercut perfectly. It was a work of art that counter uppercut. The slow-mo replays of that punch should be framed and put on display in a London museum.
It was a great punch, you can see the triumph in his face even before he throws that thing, like "bow, got you mother****er."
Thanks for posting and yes this slow mo shot and these angles are the ones I was referring to...amazing stuff...full matrix. Now watch it again at normal speed and see how fast that happened!! Mind blowing.
lol, you need to work on your insecurity, kid. if you had ever made a post worth looking at twice, we would.
Lol Canelo just did a Floyd move there. He definitely learnt how to quickly move away from the opponents punch but not far away so that he can quickly fire a counter shot
