He also has to show he can make 168 which I don't think he can again. Pretty sure we will see him at 175 in 2022

Had he beat GGG convincingly, that would be his signature win. Especially the first fight because at that time Golovkin was at or still near his peak. He was still scary af. Now when Alvarez is the peaking scary guy? He should clean out 175. There's a sig win in there or 2. Maybe even a great trilogy or something.

We have no way to know how much bigger Jacobs was vs GGG or vs Canelo because in both cases Jacobs refused to participate in the same day weigh-in.

When Duran beat Leonard, was that a convincing win? Duran won by a single point on two cards, and by 2 points on the other card over 15 rounds. One of the judges scored 10 of the 15 rounds even, and of the 3 judges, a total of 19 rounds out of the 45 rounds were scored even. All 3 judges had the 7th, 9th and 11th rounds even.

Yet this is without a doubt considered Duran's signature win, and his career-defining moment. No one looks back and says "but he only won barely on the cards".

It was clear that Duran beat Leonard, however close one saw it. It is equally clear that Golovkin beat Canelo the first time and was robbed. Apples to oranges, friend.

It wasn't clear at all. In fact, the judges concluded that Canelo beat GGG more decisively the first time than Duran beat Leonard the first time. In total, the 3 judges had Duran with 4 more points than Leonard. In total, the 3 judges had Canelo with 6 more points than GGG.

I do find it interesting though @Salty Dog that on average, the judges in Duran Leonard 1 had on average 42.2% of the rounds EVEN. What that suggests is that the match was even closer than the final margin indicates, which was pretty much as close as possible.

Of course, in Canelo GGG 1, there was not a single even round because judges are discouraged from scoring even rounds these days. But imagine if the judges who scored Duran Leonard scored Canelo GGG 1. Chances are with that style of scoring, Canelo would have won that match easily, because a lot of the rounds that GGG won would have been scored even.

However you feel about Canelo GGG 1 though, the point about Duran Leonard 1 stands. It was not clear that Duran won. In fact, the New York Times scored it for Leonard 144-142. This was a hotly debated decision, but people still look back at it as Duran's signature win, even though it was a very very narrow win on the cards.

Please tell me who Canelo has destroyed that could have been an ATG. You're also ignoring the quite obvious context around the fights.

If you're referring to Callum Smith. This is guy who had lost his fight prior to Canelo against a fairly limited John Ryder. Basically a European level lidl version of Canelo. Callum Smith has an absolutely trash resume despite blatantly weight bullying at 168. He struggled with kickboxer Holzken and beat a clearly injured/shot Groves. Let's also not forget the short camp Canelo slapped on there. Its on record that their team struggled to find sparring partners because of it.

If you're referring to Saunders. Saunders prior to the fight had been inactive, with him looking utter trash in his last three fights. This is not even to mention Canelo looks solid at the weight whereas Billy is a middleweight. And you mention destroyed, the rounds were very competitive and many had Saunders up even one of the DAZN commentators surprisingly. Yes Saunders got with a lovely shot but to say he was destroyed is a little bit of a hyperbole.

He certainly didn't destroy Jacobs that was a very close fight (not to mention Jacobs has always been overrated). Kovalev fight was a joke sparring session.

That leaves Yildrim, Fielding.. They only had one or two losses.. They could have been ATG if Canelo didn't beat them!!!!!!

You can try to discredit Canelos resume all you want, but it holds water and is the single best resume among boxers in the sport.

He beat GGG in the rematch and the 1st was scored a draw despite I believe Canelo won. The other champions he beat as well also took Austin Trout’s undefeated record.

This is a BS thread. After Canelo beats them these monsters all of a sudden were not so good.
