I Don't really see the quit claims. If he was going to quit he would have done it when the punch landed.

His corner have pulled him out due to severe injuries. Forget about the rubbish he comes out with on social media. Bellew used to say yes same thing. It was unsafe for him to continue.

Lots of people sit at home and say they would have done this and that. Mike Tyson said it best, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. Bjs hadn't been in that position before and might think a bit more before saying he would continue until he is unconscious on the floor. That would have happened in round 9 anyway.

I dont see it as a quit at all, the fact the lad continued for 2 mins after the sickening injury tells us everything we need to know about bjs.

Most of the keyboard hardmen on this forum are probably off work with a cold or migraine this lad had just had his cheekbone fractured in 3 places and his eye socket fractured and he still refused.to take a knee or go down, he then boxed on for 2 minutes in the round taking flush shots on the injury again and some sickening body shots and not once did he try and find the easy way out and taking a count which 90 percent of boxers would have done.

At the end of the round he still has his faculties to walk back to his corner, I think it was then when he sat down him and his team realised exactly how bad the injury was.

As we know from previous injuries with brook and Dubois they both said they were unable to see and took a knee because they couldnt see their opponent and saunders had that injury plus his cheekbone was in 3 pieces, what do people want him to do seriously???

The fight was effectively over from the moment of impact if he would have gone out in the next round we would probably all be talking about him being in intensive care fighting for his life..... would this make people happier ???

Whatever people want to say about the performance Saunders took some huge shots before the 8th round and not once did he look hurt or buzzed , he deserves to be praised imo many a fighter would have called it a day as soon as it happened.

I know he has said things in the past about different boxers but nobody can begin to imagine what it actually feels like until it happens and yes now because of his comments people are calling him a quitter , but anybody who can actually.look at the injury for what is was knew there was no way he could have remained safe or competitive in the fight if he had stupidly continued.

I thought it was a tremendously brave performance

Quit the round? There was like 8 seconds left when he got hit. It's not as if there was 2.50 left in the round.

1.30 exactly left in the round when Canelo got him with the uppercut.

Nope, the last punch was the one that did the damage. You even see his legs go from it.

Brixton bomber doubling down here, not taking a backward step, surely only a matter of time before he walks onto one...

Yup, 1.30 left when the punch landed and he was extremely fortunate to only take 2-3 more shots in and around the impact area for the remainder of the round. With 1.19 left after the ref broke up a clinch Canelo knew it was over and Saunders is lucky that he chose to celebrate rather than go in for the kill.

Watching it live, I thought the uppercut landed on his body and that Saunders was hurt from that and clinched to buy time to get his breath back. The commentator picked up on the eye about 10 seconds after Canelo. It was such a perfectly placed punch that they must have been working on it specifically in camp.

Another round and I think he would have been in worst shape than Ogogo.

The most beautiful thing for me about that punch is the way Reynoso was telling him to throw it before that round started. Canelo even threw one sat on his stool “like this?” Which Reynoso corrected him with a slight adjustment “like this.” Canelo nods, then goes out and delivers it.

Awesome to see the respect Canelo has for his trainer.
