Tommy Hearns Vs Saul Alvarez - Middleweight War?

Hearns v Hagler was awesome, but after that Tommy blew hot and cold, Saul would beat Tommy from any period after the Shuler fight.

 

Tommy is the logical choice here, that laser jab and lethal right wouldn't have much difficulty landing on Canelo BUT if Saul can take the power and keep coming over 15 rounds who knows ?? But it would take a hell of a fighter to consistently take right hands from Hearns and keep coming forward, is Canelo good enough and tough enough to do that ?? Not for me.

 

Canelo, for the same reason I pick Golovkin over Hearns. They have absolutely granite chins, and the boxing skill to land on Hearns. Even though Tommy was a fantastic and hard hitting boxer, I think they grind him down late after the initial barrage.

 

Canelo is harder to hit than anybody Hearns fought except Benitez, Hagler was right there for Hearns to hit while Canelo has a tight high guard.

 

Hearns. Like I said in the Hearns vs Hopkins thread, the Hitman needs to be made uncomfortable and pushed by someone willing to walk through fire; a counter puncher no matter how slick is gonna end up being Virgil Hill stuck behind Hearns jab. The slower, past prime and much shorter ranged Golovkin was jabbing Canelo all night and rightfully owns at least one victory over him.

 

Hearns by wide decision. A master boxer who outboxed Leonard, Benitez and Hill. He easily outpoints Canelo. Bihg height and reach advantage. Better jab. skills and speed. Canelo would have trouble closing the gap and that right hand will keep him at bay

 

Every modern day fighter will always win according to today's fans.

 

Thomas The Hitman Hearns is the choice by close decision. Saul Canelo Alvarez is talented but can be susceptible to boxers that can move, have terrific stamina. Hearns would have to have just that to come out victorious. Emanuel Steward would have Thomas in shape, and come up with a sound strategy for his fighter. Canelo would not cower but would make a good fight of it, at times rattling Hearns, when attacking his thin torso.

Shot Billy Joe Saunders is one thing, Tommmy Hearns he ain't.
People put Hearns down at 160 for losing to Barkley and Hagler, Canelo is no Hagler and he hasn't got Barkley's power or size to get to Hearns chin. Hearns was also a hell of a lot faster and accurate puncher than old GGG. Get off the Canelo cool aid.

 

Canelo sets his shots up better than Hill did with feints and is a great two fisted fighter, Hill mainly relied on a jab. The Hearns that fought Leonard at 168 would have been destroyed by Canelo, Ray was not a top fighter at that point and looked really bad too, Canelo would have toyed with Leonard at any stage after the Hagler fight.

 

Hill UD Canelo and Hearns UD Canelo. Both would outbox the dwarf.They both are terrific boxers with excellent jabs and have a significant height advantage.They both know how to fight tall. Hill has a granit chin, he will laugh off Canelo's shots. He would constantly move, Canelo would kland little. With Hearns, canelo would be tentative because of the hitman's reight hand.on top of that Canelo is not busy enough.

You have to be realistic also, this is not some over the hill Kovalev version.
