GGG is 1/1 vs Canelo in my book and is(was) on the same level as Canelo. Legacy-wise Canelo has surpassed GGG and will go down as the greater of the two.
I dont have my card in front so I cant respond but I dont recall it being as you describe it. But whatever.
On paper I guess he meets some standards for what some fans feel are ATG status. Topped title defense record over Hopkins, and many argue was robbed of victories over Canelo. If Canelo is going to be considered an ATG, then it opens the door to GGG being accepted as one. At a minimum they fought to a draw in first fight. Personally, I don't count him as an ATG. I see him as a HOF'er, and falling just shy of ATG status. If he could move to another weight class and win a title, or win a rubber match with Canelo, that would certainly seal his position as an ATG.
Ypu forgot Floyd haters: Canelo was green, didn't even know how to spell boxing in Spanish or English. Had his glovez on the wrong hands and upside down. Trunks were on backwards and went to the wrong venue tbe night of the fight.
Prime as i mentioned is not irrelevant. GGG isnt going to be befuddled by a awkward late starter former bicyclist that likes to keep his hands at his sides and bounce around. GGG would track him down like a cruize missile and put the little jack rabbit to sleep. GGG is not Chavez junior, he has the Pedigree from his amateur background.
Look, even if you want to score the rematch to Clenelo because you feel Gingers are a discriminated against minority or something, which to be fair they are albeit it's totally justified, then that still has GGG 1-1 against the ''greatest fighter of our generation'' even though he was way past his prime and noticeably declined and was giving away a significant amount weight to an 8 year younger prime Clenelo who was jacked full of PEDs and even then it razor close and the vast majority of casuals and blind people who scored it in his favour only had it for him by a round. Imagine what GGG would've done to him if he was 28 and in his prime, had a significant weight advantage over him and was jacked full of PEDs? He would've knocked him out, let alone just paddled his ass convincingly even without the PEDs and weight advantage. Now imagine it was a 28 y/o GGG who was in his prime, had a significant weight advantage, and was jacked full of PEDs against a 36 going on 37 y/o way past prime clean Clenelo who he'd shamelessly ducked a younger closer to prime version of after creating his own weight class and having a specially designed state of the art Mexican-proof electrified chicken coop constructed to hide out in until he saw the signs of ageing and decline he'd been biding his time waiting for before he dared step up to the plate? By far Clenelo's best win, and it's not even remotely close, is a highly controversial razor-close decision that the vast majority had him losing over a way past prime near 37 y/o GGG who had noticeably declined and who he was giving away significant weight against, 8 years in youth, and who had to jack themselves full of PEDs to scrape by by a single point against. 114-114 115-113 115-113 This content is protected
well said mate. The amount of hate and disrespect this ATG (arguably GOAT) middleweight gets is a joke. He's also one of the nicest guys you'll find anywhere so it's very strange Am record 345-5 Unbeaten as a pro Shamelessly ducked by everyone in his prime Power 10 Chin 10 Jab 10 Footwork 10 Pressure 10 Gennady's 5 qualities above are among the best the division has ever seen. The real question isn't is he HOF or ATG, it's is he ATG or GOAT He'd have given any 160 in history hell. And if the roles were reversed as you asked, Canelo would be in the morgue
Yes but so is Sergio Martinez. He never gets enough shine on here as a great 154/160 fighter. Talk about a guy who came up the hard way and really his only losses came when he was inexperienced and the other when he was shot and had bad knees. I don’t regard the Paul Williams fight as a loss.
Well said comrade Beouche his amateur accomplishments were outstanding too and his power, chin, and fearsome gym reputation put the fear of god into many of the world's best MWs, none more so than Clenelo who literally had to create his own weight division to avoid him and when he did eventually summon the courage to face the old man he had to jack himself full of PEDs even though he knew GGG was old and past his best and that he was 8 years younger and had the judges in his pocket.
When Rubio, Lemieux, and Macklin are mentioned among your best wins, your resume definitely isn't thick enough to be viewed as an all time great. Jacobs and Derevyenchenko don't get you to all time great status when you have forty two fights.
I agree Golovkin would beat him prine for prime. Just mentioned you took a completely out of place moment to bring up.
