My vote goes to Filip Hrgovic. Charles Martin ducked him in a fight for the IBF title eliminator Now Michael Hunter has straight ducked him for the same fight, instead preferring a shot at the 'toys r us', plastic WBA regular belt. What made the Hunter duck worse was that he let Hrgovic spend months in a training camp pretending he was going to sign to fight, only to say he was ducking the fight once the contract was sent to him. Then you have the fact none of the top 8 are prepared to face him and instead prefer facing 40 year old veterans. A 79 year old Luis Ortiz was previously given the title as most avoided HW by boxing hardcores, but surely given the tanking that Wilder gave him that title is no longer merited? I would also consider Usyk on the list, as you will see the big boys are always avoiding mentioning his name.
Nah nobody is avoided. Avoided fighters are typically high risk low reward guys and there's nobody fitting that description right now.
I think Ortiz was avoided years back because he was good but brought nothing to the table. Jersey Joe Walcott famously ducked Ortiz for example.
Whyte was a bad scenario because it conveyed the point that someone can take tough fights to be in a position to fight for a belt. But this can count for little because the system is rigged otherwise. Thus few bother to take that path. Why bother taking risks if these lead nowhere.
Personally, I think AJ has been actively seeking the Fury fight, because it's a much better fight for him than Usyk, who I don't think Joshua really fancies - not because he's afraid, but because he knows that styles make fights, and Usyks style is bad for AJ. If AJ lost to Usyk, it would be like Ruiz again, "Joshua can't even beat puny Cruiser!" Whereas, most people judge Fury as the best HW right now, so if Joshua loses that in a competetive fight, then he's not really much worse off.
If he wants to make it then he needs to fight more regularly 1 fight in 1.5 years at aged 31 isnt going to cut it Who is his promoter?
