As much as I rate Cazlaghe, I think the undefeated think is bandied about way too much, and it's given way too much credence. GGG could conceivably be undefeated if he had judges that looked for different things in his 2 bouts with Canelo. (yes i'm being diplomatic) Calzaghe could conceivably have lost his 0 to Robin Reid who pushed him super-hard. I had that a draw, but could have seen 115-113 either way. Even if Joe had a super-off night, he was really lucky the scoring went his way that night. And maybe, if Joe had lost to Reid, he might have went to US and taken a different path, forging a better resume? Sometimes (look at Canelo) a loss is the best thing that can happen to a fighter. Fine margins in boxing based on snap decisions by 3 folks that hardly even get a great view of the action!
But by the same token, if GGG vs Canelo I had been scored properly (a draw is the absolute best I could give Canelo), GGG would have a prime Canelo on his resume. I.e. it would be arguable to many that prime Canelo eclipsed prime Kessler and elevates GGGs resume above Calzaghes. Fine margins as I said! Personally I think Kessler is a bit underrated and the defeat to JC took something out of him, but he still had enough past-prime to beat Froch, and push him all the way in the rematch.
Similar to the GGG vs Ward thread, I wouldn't pick against the ATG SMWs. Though, I think GGG would do better than some expect, and does have a chance of beating both.
H2H I can see GGG winning but not if he fought like he did against canelo. Fortunately, cal isn’t a powerful puncher. However, I think size is a big factor in favor of cal. I can see G winning but generally size matters so H2H I would be safe and go cal.
