If Tommy had faced an unbeaten version of Mugabi at 160, could we see another shock ko similar to the Barkley one?
I think Hearns had slowed down by the time he faced Barkley, the younger Tommy would have destroyed Mugabi, Hearns hurt Hagler but Mugabi couldn`t couldn`t and Mugabi never knocked out a middleweight with one shot like Hearns did v Shuler, however Mugabi was naturally bigger than Hagler which helped him in that fight and would help him against the fragile Hearns too, he could score a come from behind KO against the far superior Hearns, but Tommy at his best shoyld be able to tackle te clumsy Mugabi who mainly just countered v Hagler, that style would not work v Tommy.
Emanuel Steward wanted nothing to do with Mugabi when the Beast was calling out Hearns at 154. Tommy is a way better fighter but Mugabi possessed the kryptonite to put Hearns away
Strong possibility. Tommy gets dropped rather to easily against the big hitters. The Beast can bang, if Tommy doesn't get him early then I see him getting caught and kod. Tommy s the greater fighter obviously but his chin s the weakest link at times.
This Virtually unknown compared to the Hitman so people go with the hitman automatically. This is a fight that could defo leave Tommy on the floor unconscious. Extremely sharp ko counter puncher with balls
Mugabi would have had a punchers chance at either 154 or 160. It was talked about in 1985 after Hearns lost to Hagler. But Mugabi signed to fight Hagler and Hearns fought James Shuler. I remember thinking Mugabi would have a better chance against Hearns
