How ? Cause if i remember correctly it was Hearn who tried to make the Aj/Fury fight. If he was truly protecting him, none of this negotiation nonsense would happen
He’s more of a pantomime villain. I love to hate him. But I’d be disappointed if he retired or something.
Because he somehow has a legit fanboy fanbase. Like someone who reps Al Haymon all the time. It's kinda pathetic to be a boxing fan and having a promoter be your favorite figure, always defending hypocrisies.
Wlad, Parker, Takam, Povetkin, Ruiz x2, Whyte... hardly a bad list of opponents. Parker, Povetkin, Ruiz and Whyte would all beat Kownacki Parker, Ruiz and Whye would all beat Hunter. Hunter already went life and death with Povetkin. All of the above would arguably beat Ortiz. In the last 5 years, Ortiz has proven nothing against a credible opponent. His biggest claim is winning rounds against the limited Wilder before being sparked out.
I don't love him or hate him. I do think he does his job and delivers, unlike Arum, Don King, De la Hoya and Warren.
The proliferation of PPV in the UK, for eliminators The bitching about his fighters being avoided, whilst he puts them in with the likes of Luke Keeler, a 2020 Martin Murray and a shot to bits N'dam... Which seems to be his "keep busy against useless fighters before I feed you to someone good" mentality The fact he is the product, rather than boxing being the product. The copious amounts of bull**** shows and awful mismatches (yes every promoter bar maybe DANGAN do these, but with Hearn they are constant). The hypocrisy (regarding match making, drugs and the playing of the ABC title games) leaves a bad taste His "I don't want to match my own fighters" comments, whilst having a swathes of fighters in some divisions that should be matched The way he dropped a guy like Danny ****ing Roman The bull**** about guys like Farmer and Andrade being avoided The consistently bad officiating favoring his fighters, and his unwillingness to actually challenge the bbbofc on those officials Worst of all, the ****ing fan boys who seemingly want him to take a dump in their chest rather than accept he does wrong Don't get me wrong, he does a lot I like, but there are plenty of reasons to dislike him. Just as there is with every promoter.
HPE aka Handsome Promoter Envy Ben Davison's been getting a lot of HTE (Handsome Trainer Envy) recently too, especially from baldies who are jealous of his lovely flaxen locks
Because AJ vs Fury will make big money. But AJ vs Kownacki will not make big money, although it is more competiteve than AJ vs Pulev.
Fans hate Hearn for the same reason that they hate Arum, Warren, Haymon, De La Hoya etc... He's a boxing promoter. It only seems he is hated more than the others because he is more active. Hence more opportunities for criticism.
I like him. Boxing is after all entertainment and I find him good to watch. Yeah, we have been subjected to ppv fights that barely warrant a Saturday night fight night headline but he has delivered more IMO than other promoters in the time ive been watching boxing. Second maybe to the WBSS which produced some quality entertainment However, he has a contractual obligation with Sky to make X amount of PPV events jd imagine so his hands are tied. He cannot help the fact that the HW division is limited and there just aren't that many PPV shows involving matchroom fighter's he can make atm. His jobs to sell fights and he's very good at what he does, sells a narrative and as someone who would barely classify themselves much more than a casual, he gets me hyped for pudding fights
Because people don’t hate the second best guy, they root against the top guy, and this is especially true for boxing promoters, always has been. The qualities or characteristics of said individuals are not what most people would find as ‘good’, disingenuous, dishonest, greedy, usurious, conniving, condescending, and as loyal as the $ to be bled out of their number 1 ‘best friend’. in a nut shell, that’s why.
