Cooper said that he noticed that Ali stepped straight back when Cooper jabbed. So he jabbed to make Ali back onto the ropes, then hooked.
Don’t have time to look for it but I’m like 90 percent certain he had stepped on his foot. Think there is a photo from another angle
In terms of concussive impact clearly Frazier's hook was far more damaging. He put everything into that punch. Cooper's hook was more of a surprise shot that Ali never saw coming.
Wtf even is that? did they have him punch a bathroom scales like Shavers? then compare it to them dropping a bowling ball? It is like when they say Muay Thai fighters kicks are measured to have the force of a baseball bat I have felt both and would volunteer to be kicked if I had to pick one or the other.
I don't know. I, too, have been hit with a bat and punched and kicked on numerous occasions. Getting hit with a bat was worse than all of them except a right hand I got hit with 40 plus years ago. But I didn't know how much that hurt until recently. Good to see you back.
The bat feels worse because it's so dense and completely solid. If a punch is hard enough and lands on a sensitive area like the jaw, you won't even feel it.
Thanks mate. Yeah Hockey stick was my worst single shot straight on the lower back. Must have A been a bad shot from the batsmen or B that right hand was thrown by a bad dude.
I hope you realize that, despite your thread title asking who has the more powerful left hook, the poll asks who has the better left hook which is why Frazier is the overwhelming majority pick.
The Cooper punch was very similar to the hook Frazier landed in the 11th with Ali against the ropes which I think shook Ali more. It was, like 'Enery's 'ammer, a short shoulder punch whereas the big hook in the 15th was a sweep coming from the legs through his hips. A more dramatic punch but one that saw power dissipate as it covered such a long trajectory. So out of the two shots in the OP, I'd say Cooper's punch. But Cooper's punch next to Joe's short hook in the 11th, I wouldn't be so sure.
Can you imagine if Frazier had dropped Ali, in their first fight, the same round and way that Cooper did. Yes, he came out in the next round and absolutely cut Enery to bits, but Frazier would have being straight in there and Ali not as young and fresh. Good chance that Joe stops Ali if that happened.
Indeed his great grandfather Abe seemed to have been forgotten by Ali in this interview. This content is protected
