The guy fights in slow motion but his punches can seriously hurt. He broke DDD's eye socket only with the jab. Mentally strong, with excellent stamina, he fears none and his chin looks one of the best of the division. How much further can he go?
It’s a struggle really. It’s a shame he’s likely going to miss out on the Usyk fight now. The top of the division is in gridlock and will take a while for others to get a look in and, at 35, Joyce doesn’t have too much time.
Ohh, if he does have or might generate enough $, maybe to go old proven road: beat some over the hill well known boxers and then he will be more popular. First might be Pulev, most likely then he will be 40, next maybe 42 y.o Povetkin's shadow. Then maybe Takam, this too is enough old?
Comfortably top 10 in the division. Potentially top 5. Would be a hard nights work for Fury, Wilder and Joshua but I dont think he beats any of them.
Joyce should have a solid tick over fight, he holds the euro title and the next in line for a shot of all people is huck, doubt that happens. how about Joyce avenges his loss against yoka?
It’d be interesting to see Wilder land his ‘swing for the fences’ right on Joyce’s granite chin! The unstoppable force meets the immovable object! I reckon Joyce smiles at him and Wilder retires with a jellyfied right wrist and hand
He's always seemed pretty solid in the pros. The Dubois fight saw him take some hefty shots from an up and coming fighter with a reputation for heavy hands - and he just kept on walking him down... Interesting that this was interpreted as Joyce having an iron chin rather than Dubois not being as hard a hitter as previously reputed. He's been KO'd as an amateur and doesn't have that many pro fights under his belt though.
I'm inclined to agree. A lot of this great chin talk is due to him comfortable taking Dubois' shots but Dubois is himself an unknown quantity and I didn't see him land many clean power shots on Joyce. If anyone refutes this please post a clip of Joyce taking a clean power shot from a proven puncher.
I would love to see Yoka face the Joyce acid test. It could be a good learning experience win or lose.
Joyce has a good chin, but he's also effective at riding and stuffing incoming shots which is what makes him so hard to hurt. His jab is also excellent and authoritative, and is the cornerstone of his grind-down style. He's got a lot of subtle skills that belie his overall appearance of sloth and sloppiness. Right now I'd pick him to beat the new school guys Hrgovic and Yoka, and old campaigners Ortiz, Parker, Ruiz, Chisora and possibly Whyte. Joyce vs Ortiz was bandied about a while back. That's a fight I'd like to see happen now, preferably in the States in front of a wide audience, so we can be retired of the tedious old fake bogeyman for good.
