Time Machine, 1982 Marvelous Marvin Hagler fights 1972 Bob Foster at 175 lbs.

I think it would be worth it to see. However, this matchup takes too much time to think about, which I currently don't have time for.

 

Foster knocks out essentially any middleweight. Hagler included.

 

I can't decide if Foster, who knocked out nearly every light heavy faced, knocks out Hagler, but has a helluva time doing so, or if Marvin pulls this out cuz of great chin, but gets rocked, jolted, and dropped a lot in the process.

Richard first it was Frank Bruno against a prime Larry Holmes, now you want to see Hagler get killed?

 

The reason I put essentially.

 

Hagler is one of my favourite fighters however i think he would lose against Foster. Hagler was a great natural middleweight who never had inclination to fight at heavier weight, and Foster was a great heavy handed natural light heavy (Foster only went 5 pounds over LH limit when he fought Ali)

Other than Haglers ability to fight southpaw which was the thing that frustrated Foster for large part of bout he had with Finnegan, i do not see Hagler bringing anything to the bout that would trouble Foster enough for him to los,e Foster was just to big and too good at the weight.

 

Thread is useless / how about bob foster comes down to 160 lbs to fight hagler ?

See The Dick Tiger fight. Though Hagler was much better skilled than Tiger, I don't think he had that much better of a chin. Foster damn near decapitated Tiger.
Foster would need to work a bit harder, but sooner or later the results would be the same.

 

I don't like this fight for Marvin. For one, he was never a light heavy and Foster was a HUGE light heavyweight. Dick Tiger was as strong of a middleweight that has ever lived and he was no match for Foster. I just don't see Marvin winning this as great as he was.

 

Hard to envision Hagler at 175
