Santiago has a swollen left eye too, may want to just quit. Not sure that's worse than what he's doing. He isn't exactly battling valorously in there, for the most part.

And then brought up Cotto's name, although I'm unclear on whether the commentators also think Cotto was a ***** or were bringing him up as more of an example of how to not fight like one. My intelligibility with Spanish is decent but not when spoken at breakneck speed like this.

 

Santiago getting ****ed up in round eight. If there were a tiny bit less time clinching and more time Núñez belting him around, it might have warranted a 10-8 even without a knockdown (or, in this fight, a deduction).

Again they screw up and return late from commercial - not that late, just nine seconds into the ninth round, but enough that we missed the KO shot.

That's right, this one concluded just an eye-blink into the round, as Núñez attacked Santiago with a combination against the ropes, culminating in a left hook skidding across that swollen left eye as Santiago was turning his face away swiveling to his right. Santiago went to a knee and quit almost immediately.

Good result for "El Científico", who becomes the first to stop "Ojo", which is getting to be a sick joke of a nickname (Santiago got up off the canvas and withstood a cut eye to go twelve against Devin Haney)

Huh, with this Corrales jumps his KO percentage above 33%; I'd forgotten it was so low considering his initial claim to fame was knocking out then spotless Uchiyama. Kind of guy you always consider a puncher, but then you look at his record and

(see also Lee Selby, Hozumi Hasegawa, etc).
