Yeah but Floyd is nothing like RJJ. And Canelo isn't the same fighter now that he was then. If anyone could figure RJJ out and give him hell it's Canelo. Canelo and RJJ are arguably the two greatest, most dominant SMWs in history. You put them in the ring together in their prime you have to expect fireworks. Anything could happen. Canelo could test RJJ to the body, slow him down a tad then test that chin down the stretch. All it takes is one shot, one mistake and we seen what can happen. If anyone could get Prime 168-lb RJJ in trouble and hurt, it's Canelo. Who is more likely to win a decision if there are no knockdowns, I think you have to say RJJ. Faster hands, faster feet. But Canelo better fundamentally, better at slipping punches, body punches. Roy in his prime was very elusive as well though but by using his feet not by staying in the pocket and using upper body movement.

If you're not trolling, this is one of the most preposterous things I've ever read on here. There's a number of fighters in the 90's (JMW, MW, SMW, LHW) that would've washed, dried and pressed Canelo.

Most Boxers nowadays don't love this sport and want to be the best, they see boxing as a job and don't like it.
Toney for example wanted the best and fought against the best to show who is the best.

I favor every ranked pre 2000s Boxer against most champions and top 10 opponents of today , no matter who.
I don't see any boxer of today's generation who stands out like Toney or RJJ or Ali etc.....

I realise that Floyd was nothing alike Roy. But Roy was more experienced in fighting elite technically gifted fighters.

Canelo showed Floyd far too much respect. But I agree that this current version wouldn’t have. But I think that speed and elusive movement will always bother Canelo.

Canelo is very technically gifted. But any guy with a short reach who’s not particularly fast would have found it hard to have beaten Roy. We saw Griffin cause him problems, and I think that Canelo could have posed some difficulties for Roy with his timing. But ultimately, the unorthodox style and the speed and reflexes would have been too much for him.

Roy Jones would have boxed circles around Canelo. Canelo is just too flat footed.

He would have found it hard to deal with Canelo`s high guard and counters, Canelo is a better combo and counter puncher anybody Roy beat, including an out of shape Toney.
