Posted this on the General forum : Pacquiao talking about retirement in the buildup to this, if boxing history has shown us one thing it's talk of retirement before a fight rarely if ever ends well once it's fight time.

But if Pac can somehow pull this off if he's practically guaranteed a place in the top 15 of all time maybe even top 10.

 

I remember David Haye talking about the Bellew rematch as potentially being his last fight, and certainly his last year as a professional. My gut feeling says when that mindset is there, you are mentally defeated already, especially against someone who is game to win, ala Bellew, Spence.

If a 42 year old inactive Pacquiao beats prime Errol Spence it will go down in history, so he might just go in all guns blazing.

If Manny wins he is top 3 ATG for me. I feel the 2 year lay off has f**ed any chances he has. Hope he doesn’t get a beat down

 

Michael Spinks talking about retirement before the Tyson bout as well comes to mind, there are other instances of it.

 

A win gets him in the top 10 of all time for sure. It’s crazy after the lay off he is taking this fight. What an animal.

I just hope he is getting paid very well and calls it a day if he gets beaten badly. Will be rooting for him but he gets stopped in this one.

 

This will not end well for Manny.

 

He's got nothing to lose and only greatness to achieve so he's in the perfect position for this...whereas Spence will be expected to win and the pressure will be all on him. Pac is his most difficult fight yet despite his age. He is proper pedded to the eyeballs and will throw Spence all sorts of angles imo. He had a difficult time with Porter and I think Pac brings even more to the table.

Added to that if there's a hydration clause with the IBF then Spence will struggle. Been fighting at the same weight since 2012 and is now 31. I fancy Pac for this lads.

 

Will this be classed as a unifictaion though. If so the hydration clause wont be forced.

 

Manny is in the top 10 all time for me, to have such an exciting style and have so many big fights, fighting the best, for so long in this modern era is incredible. Absolute warrior.

 

The IBF, WBA and WBC are all there to be fought for so possibly bud

 

Not seen much of Spence since his car crash, how's he looking these days?

 

Spence to win this. He ain't no Thurman. Pac will put in a good showing as usual though.
