Mandatories don't need to give rematch clauses to get title shots. Why? B/c the sanctioning body will enforce the title shot regardless. Granted, AJ can relinquish the belt & do his own thing. That's not how Alphabet City rolls though.
I think it will be very close. Usyk will win later rounds, but I worry the judges will give close rounds to Aj, even if he isn't landing much
Joshua will take the early rounds because he can keep Usyk behind the jab, but his stamina might fail him. Usyk is still going to be as active in round 12 as he is in round 1. AJ might need a KO to win.
Usyk ain`t going to beat anyone. He and his team are delusional. He is 34 and a half, with just 2 matches at HW, which first of them was garbage level, and Chisora is a gatekeeper, who is also very far from what boxer Joshua is, and even he gave Usyk a tough match. Last time i see a prime Usyk was against Gassiev 3 years ago. From that point on he is getting worst and worst. He 500% declined in terms of physically from that point on, and he is a shell of his former self. Anyone who not see this obviously have zero eye for boxing and to see when fighter is sliding. Prime Usyk may have chance against Joshua if he was to switch early on, but the guy switch at his 31, and for a 3 years time he was been hugely inactive, struggle to gain a functional muscle mass, and is declining every single day, and for 3 years at the HW, he got exactly 2 matches, which is an absolutely disaster. This was the worst move in his career. He would have more money staying at CW and destroy everyone, and retired unbeaten. Garbage decision by Usyk. Prime Usyk was super fast on his feet, was creating insane angles, his hands were insanely fast, his reflexes was second to noone, and most importantly his pressure and punch output was insane. He was pressing on his opponents and they couldn`t keep on his pace, and he demolishes them. Against Chisora he didn`t have the energy to do so, cause he is obviously declined, and he doesn`t have the stamina any longer. Just look what Usyk did to Hunter in the last few rounds, and how insane his pace was in the closing rounds, and compare it to Chisora fight for example. Its pain me to see Usyk like that, but its all his and his team fault. This fight is going to be similar to Povetkin one. Usyk will be competitive until a moment, his speed and cardio later one will took a hit, just like it happen with Povetkin, he will be slower and will get slayed by Joshua.
Wish I could find the full shot of this pic Joshua/Usyk ... https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/NINTCHDBPICT000654744827.jpg Does anyone have it?
Usyk will get stopped. Joshua is too big, too strong. The Chisora fight cleared it up for me. Usyk is talented but he's not built for the division. He is also past his prime.
People need to stop using Chisora as some sort of yardstsick to analyse this fight between Usyk and AJ? I mean are you 12 years old and completely new to boxing? We all know sport doesn’t work with this simplistic A beat B so must beat C idiotic logic. And if we are going to resort to that level of schoolboy analysis, you’d do well to remember that AJ took a very long time to force an illogical stoppage against Takam whereby Chisora sparked him out clean.
Chisora is style Usyk hate a lot. Still Usyk and even if in good shape old Briedis might gave really more problems than 33 y.o Pulev, not alone 39 y.o Pulev version A.J had fought with. Prime Usyk, Briedis, Dorticos most likely had dispatched 33 y.o Pulev with ease. Yeah, he does not looks in prime, actually from these WBSS1 boxers, I think in prime now might be Gassiev and even this if he had recovered well and will be lucky, otherwise he is young lad for HW, then Dorticos, these: Usyk, Briedis for sure are " old " and Glowacki after get lesson that Briedis isn't Vlasov for his game is nothing impressive anymore + there inactivity and covid and fact that he is more " dirty " than even trashed in forums Ward ever was in his life.
And then people shoot themselves in the foot by saying Usyk is too small, despite him being a considerably larger man than little fat Ruiz who knocked Joshua all over the ring in embarrassingly devastating fashion. Whether Usyk wins or Joshua wins, it will be a good bout and at least a competitive, interesting bout unlike most of Joshua's amazing "top 10 record" wins in the UK against legends like Martin, Takam, Breazeale, Molina, Paint Dry, Pulev, Ruiz, old Povetkin and whoever else...
This is a good fight. I really hope it happens. Usyk hasn’t looked great at HW but he’s won his fights and is still very skilled. AJ overcame his loss to Fat Andy and looked pretty good against Povetkin. Usyk is a much better boxer but AJ is giant and can punch. Usyk is getting older and slowing down but AJ isn’t Mohammed Ali. Need to give this more thought before making a prediction because I keep going back and forth. This usually means it’s a pretty close fight. I can see either man winning. Hope it actually takes place.
