More like bayless was penalizing taylor only but didnt call for a break and then taylor capitalized.

No break. Ramirez thought a break was coming and switched off. Clever from Taylor IMO.

Fine margins can make all the difference at the top level.

Doesn`t matter, he got out-boxed anyway then came to life in the last round, but it was a good fight, Taylor will be difficult for anybody he fights, a very good fighter.

Half expected Bayless to penalize Taylor for punching him.

For all the criticism bayliss is getting he at least never penalised Taylor for that shot.

also get robbed on cards or DQed etc like usually hometown fans are expecting.;)
It is normal and US boxing stars are usually " gloves won't travel " heroes.

...or did he? Maybe as "punishment" he gave Ramirez the extra seconds and all the other stuff...as a kind of way to balance things out

That is totally Ramirez's fault. Taylor had been capitalizing on the break all night and Ramirez knew that. Instead of filing that away for reference, he chose to depend on the ref instead of his instincts. That costs him.

I've watched and re-watched that clip a good few times. Still can't hear the ref call break though...

It's not hitting on the break but the constant kind of, sort of, almost breaking is terrible refereeing and frequently sets up big shots.

The wordt thing for a ref to be is tentative.

Bayliss had a mare with this KD. He tapped Taylor's arm in the way refs do to warn about hitting and holding - and then Josh, no longer holding (if indeed he was the only culprit), hit Ramirez hard. I think that might explain why he was given so much time to recover before the ref called 'box on'... there was a chain of events partly down to fussy refereeing. But the bottom line is, Ramirez switched off in the clinch and paid the price...
