    No grounds for controversy whatsoever.

    This.

Jose is no fresh-out-of-the-amateurs rookie who is unaccustomed to the nuances of clinch/trench warfare. His disengagement from that particular clinch was much too nonchalant for a battle-tested veteran and he paid the price.

Looked to me like the ref slapped at Ramirez' arm and when he moved it Taylor came in with the punch

He did, and it did cause hesitation on JR part. But, Ramirez was relying too much on the ref. And as others have said, it’s protect yourself at all times. Josh Taylor does not come to play. And he showed it from the very beginning and Ramirez kept looking to the ref to fix it. Even though I see the flaw in what Bayless did and the reaction from Ramirez, it was still a legitimate knockdown.

I will add that Kenny needs to retire now.

If that had happened to someone like Floyd Mayweather or Canelo Alvarez instead of Ramirez, I'm pretty much sure the referee would have ruled no knockdown due to illegal punching and docked one or two points off the other fighter.

He spent the whole fight doing that. Reaching in and slapping at their arms instead of just letting them fight. It was distracting the fighters and was ridiculous

And it’s not just last nights fight either. He changed dramatically after the Mayweather fight. He used to be one of the best.

Nah, this was Bayless fault there.
Taylor did nothing wrong and Ramirez got ****ed over by bad refereeing.

The touch is indicating to not hold with the arm that is being touched.
It used to be more common years ago, and it´s a good refereeing tactic that doesn´t stop the action. However, Bayless seems to have not informed this to Ramirez, and Ramirez took it as a sign to to disengage and break.
And if Bayless was clear on his instructions, then the fault is fully on Ramirez.

With KB though, as much as he jumps in between fighters, Ramirez could have felt like that’s what was going to happen. But still, Ramirez needs to protect himself anyways. Bayless just needs to let fighters fight close. He has ruined a lot of action in the past several years getting in the way.

basically this. Wtf is this referee doing? taylor did fine. But the referee should be punished for doing that. Disgusting action. Bayless is not a newby, btw, he shouldnt be doing that kind of BS.

A friend of mine was in the national tournament, important stuff, national team selection, olympics, money for the guys so that they can train without problems... all that stuff that there is in the amateurs at more or less high level. The referee said "fight", my friend put his gloves up to say "hey, man, salute!" and the other guy stripped his head off with a punch instead of saluting. He couldnt recover and lost the fight. That's totally fine! that's legit! and that's the right way of fighting! stick that in your freaking heads!

Had this happened to ramirez, and not to my friend, he wouldnt be acting like an idiot in the rigng. Kiss your oponent after the fight if you want to, but dont do that kind os BS while fighting. Well deserved kd, next time he will not be such an idiot.
