Taylor will be criticized if he calls out any of the LWs and rightly so. And I expect the LWs to stay mum and fight among themselves.
I totally agree with that because those gents are masquerading as light weights when they are easily 140 pounders. Going directly at Crawford is a bad move. If he goes after Ugas then it makes more sense because that would sort of get him ready for what Crawford would bring and that is if he wins which is not guaranteed. If he loses his first fight at 147 then he has to get behind Ortiz and Ennis. It would be a hard trip back to the front.
They've already proven they won't do that. Besides I'm just not sold on Taylor. At some point I expect Lopez and Haney will move up. Both seem too big to stay lw to me. Is Taylor big at 140? By eyeball I'd Take Lopez over Taylor. Dunno about Haney. Floyd will never let Tank fight Taylor, but (again by eyeball) I like Tank even though he's a midget. I don't think Tank will ever fight anybody of note, though. Floyd will just keep him around like a piece of expensive jewelry to show off until he's way past it and then take him down to the pawn shop and let him go for cheap.
Davis is a joke, won’t go anywhere near Taylor or Teo. I think Teofimo has the best chance of anyone but still falls short, unless Mikey comes back to 140. That would be a great scrap.
Taylor defending the belts at 140 could be the best thing to happen to 135 as it deters them from moving up and more chance of the best fighting the best at 135. Also, if Arum tries to feed Taylor to Crawford right away Taylor should tell Top Rank to **** off

And who has Taylor beaten? An undisputed champ who doesn’t even have a single p4p top 20 on his resume. Levels. Taylor would get beat by the best at LW (Tank and Lopez) and any B+ levels at WW (Thurman, Porter, Spence, Pac, Crawford). Sure, Tanks resume is lacking but he at least passes the eye test. Taylor looks very ordinary, a good fighter in a very weak division. A good fight would be Mikey vs Taylor to better ascertain what level Taylor is on.
You are so sure that Lopez is so good cos he managed to outpoint Nakatani and Loma? This Taylor is considerably larger than Loma and maybe Lopez will not go till cards here. I think he is more athletic than Nakatani too, not alone Loma or Linares for example etc lads at 135 lbs.
prograis and ramirez are overrated as F. And, hence, taylor too. So funny how undefeated indongo is "nobody" in crawford's resume, but nevertheless he's good enough to say "wow, look at how good prograis is" after being knocked the **** out in the previous fight. You seem to have two standard. Tank hasn't done anything but pass the eye test?? He sure as hell hasn't done a thing at 140. Taylor is undefeated/undisputed champ in 18 fight with 13 ko (last night fight should have been a KO if it wasn't for 20 second count) and yet he doesn't pass the eye test?
You know a fighter is successful when he has such big haters like in this thread. The same names always seem to hate on Euro fighters, so it's clear what's it's about
Just going by the eye test on this one tbh. I think Tank is top of the LWs. I agree that Lopez beat loma due to size and that iMO Loma probably wins the rematch. that said, Lopez is a big guy and p4p looks better than Taylor. If he carries his size to 140, IMO, he’s clearly a class above guys like Postol, Ramirez and Prograis. I’d pick him to beat Taylor. Taylor needs to test himself against p4p candidates. Mikey, any top 5 WW, any top 2 LW. Heck even fighting someone like Broner would be a better measuring stick. I have no idea how good Ramirez is, there is no clue, there’s no chain of fights that I can bring it back to, to use as a reference. He beat Hooker who had also beaten nobody, so that’s not a good reference point. He beat a shot Postol who the previous 140 king destroyed in Postols prime. All that tells me is that the previous 140 king is far better than the current one.
Assuming that they move up within 3 years or so cuz Taylor's 30 ,given the moneymaking potential the fights have at 135 I hardly think this might happen anytime soon. Taylor needs to get on that Mexican beef diet and do God's work at 147 , 140 doesn't hold any significant value for Taylor if he's going the legacy route.
Difficult to tell about his class. Vs Loma he dealt most likely cos he managed to keep him at range. Loma probably had also undervalued him and maybe had waited too long with dream that Lopez will not be careful, become overconfident and create too wide and long openings where Loma could counter him very hard. A bit proof for this theory is stuff that Loma did not had inserted rematch clause. He most likely had assumed that Lopez is too inexperienced to keep high attention till end of fight. If Lopez will beat some 135 lbs boxers impressively, not like barely 7-5 vs Loma, then he will have more chances at 140 lbs. Nakatani was to slick to get him down, small Loma too experienced. If he had finished some boxers like Linares, Campbell then his power had been proved more than if he had even KOed Loma. For example Campbell is huge dude for 135 lbs division while Loma: bulked up from 126 lbs division boxer.
