GGG ancient and slow, prime Barkley brings the heat for every minute of every round. Canelo gets stopped

Prime Barkley was pretty slow too. Also lacked GGG's jab. Canelo is essentially a budget James Toney with more focus on power rather than volume.

Defense wins championships especially in the 12 round era.

I think Barkleys body punching would be a huge factor as it was against Hearns.

Not sure why you feel like that. Canelo has half the body to defend.

Definitely a budget James Toney, Canelo doesn't hit nearly as hard as Toney, or Hearns, and isn't busy enough to beat Barkley either. Barkely would hit Canelo, all GGG had was a slow as hell right hand.

Right, Canelo is picking his pace against these so called contenders he is fighting. Iran would be busy all the time for 12 rounds.

I'd put Canelo's power a notch above Toney. He broke a SMW eye socket and iced a LHW in one shot. All GGG had was was power and a jab educated by 400 ammy fights. GGG's power didn't bother Canelo. Not sure what makes you think Barkley is any faster than GGG. I'd put them about even for speed maybe slightly lean Barkley. But Canelo has made fighters much, much faster than either of them look ordinary.

Barkley throws his hooks wide and relies almost exclusively on a high guard. How many uppercuts did James Toney put between Barkley's forearms? How many uppercuts will Canelo need to land before something gives or Barkley's eye closes?

I would guess that if Canelo landed 400 punches on Barkley in 9 rounds he'd be dead.

Anyone else remember that time when Barkley got stopped in one during his prime? It must have been an off night.

Well- I would say it could have been unlucky other fighters have won fights after 3 knockdowns in the past with the absence of the rule and Iran was a big strong durable guy I think we missed out on a good fight.

Toney was an absolute master on the inside. one of the very best ever. Canelo is not on that level. Barkley would concentrate onm that body and might very well outhustle Canelo. The cleaner shots would be landed by Canelo but he is not busy enough. Barley's will, determination, punch output, chin would carry him to a close points win.

Man. I'm a big fan, but Barkely is tailor-made for Canelo & would get picked apart every round. His best (& maybe only) chance is to make Canelo get tired by punching himself out & then going in for the kill. This is very unlikely to work though, as the damage Barkley would have taken would render that strategy ineffective. Barkley was an extremely limited slugger with poor defense & left himself open - something that Canelo would exploit very often throughout the fight. Barkley will give it all he's got, but will lose quite badly.

Well if Barkley is such a club fighter, how come he is a 3 division champ? Barkley can take damage and still go full force. Watch Hearns-Barkley II. Hearns is a much harder puncher than Alvarez. Canelo is my opinion the one with stamina issues. He is used to be the stronger guy, little different this time.
