Yes, but I think Holyfield beats any version of Tyson, and that's not due to size. It's quality that matters. The question is which of the 'modern giants' could beat him ? You name only four, including Lewis, and I'd have my doubts about the Klitschkos personally.
Extreme strong endomorph physique. He could even carry 240-250 at 5`11" @ the body-fat-percantage the "normal", non-trimmed, non-athlete person possessed. With the difference, that the average 6`1" fellow would look twice the size of Andy Ruiz at that weight. Thick big boned structure. Like I said before, he was short for his weight, not "small".
So what? Didn’t he say he’d lose to Dempsey or Marciano? I think he was trained to undersell himself.
That's the same as people who point out Marciano could carry 215 pounds and look normal too. Those kind of statements you make a full-time show of ridiculing, but you do the same thing here. Tyson was what he was. 5'11 and 217 pounds and relatively short-armed for a boxer. Muscular, thick neck, etc, yes. 217 pounds fighting weight is 217 pounds. Within average range for a heavyweight, but clearly below average for this current era. Below average height for any era, well below for this one. For today, he's certainly on the small side.
The Holy fight is much closer during Tyson's prime. Either way, for me. What Holy really exposed about Mike, even a depleted Mike, was that he ran out of options pretty after a few rounds. He could still be dangerous but nothing new was coming and nothing new in the ways it was coming. And a large part of that was due to his physical limitations. I have no doubt that Wlad beats him 9 out of 10 times.
Lord At the weight Marciano was a little fatty (217 pounds) the way Tyson was 250, Mike Tyson was a fukking trimmed to the bone stocky fire hydrant! How much taller than Rocky was Tyson again? Compare the BMI of both prime weight athletes for example and try again....
IMHO, Mike Tyson wasn't too small to compete successfully today. I'm waiting for somebody to start a thread saying Muhammad Ali was too small to compete today.
