If they were the same size, Loma'd beat Teo as if he's beating a 6 year old. That's how far they are in terms on skill. You can't expect Crawford to go beat Caleb Plant at 168. Loma vs Teo was that kind of absurdity.
Okey, we might pull Garry Russel Jr ( 126 lbs division WBC World Title holder now 6 years in row who lost vs Loma at 126 lbs ) to 130 lbs and 135 lbs division and put him vs Linares and Campbell and ofc Lopez to evalue how he will perform vs them at 135 lbs. Interestingly ppl does not post how valued was Garry. He just does not moves up in weight classes and all is OK for him. They are approx the same size.
youre telling me? the main reason the usual suspects hating on you now, hate me, is because ive been telling them all that since they first started suggesting he would be able to beat arguello, and chavez, and other greats. even mikey. i said from day 1 mikey was too big, too good, and would spank loma around the ring. they didnt like that. they like it even less now that reality has kicked over their sand castle.
I think a lot of these guys imagine themselves as Loma in the ring while they shadow box in front of their bedroom mirror. Loma is a more relatable fighter than many top level fighters because hes not freakishly fast or strong or aggressive. Hes a more regular looking man than say Chavez who was like a piece of iron in the ring. These guys like to imagine themselves shadow boxing and using footwork and skill to out maneuver and out point great fighters, but it doesnt work that way, not even for Loma. You see no matter how skilled you are it's difficult to cope when you're physically outgunned. Lopez is bigger, stronger and faster than Loma. And hes a bad mother****er inside the ring. All that shadow boxing goes out the window when you end up fighting a guy who bullies you in the ring.
the regular joe in all of us likes to be believe that if we had chosen to, we could have learned and perfected our skills well enough to have competed vs these guys. it takes a lot more to compete at these levels. all the regular joes and dreamers were sorted out way back. now you got the genetic freaks, the guys born for this type of grind. those are the ones that stand out and who you measure by.
This virtually all great fighters are genetic freaks. Like Arguello for example who you brought up. He was as skilled as they come, but hes not a great fighter without that power he possessed. He just hit the genetic lottery. He hit like a truck and there is nothing us regular guys can do to replicate that.
Bedroom floor is not close to ring floor usually. Plus his style requires high agility gifts, also genetic gift there, plus ofc talent and damn a lot of hard work. Also for shadowbox you should use different scenarios there and yeah, mirrors are good but you should not pay attention to mirrors. Install cameras and watch later, shadowbox in tailored sequences should be automated in so deep depth that there no time to look into mirror during this one. bigger, stronger and he fooled Loma, looks that this assumed that Lopez will go for stoppage and will loss discipline and attention to defense. He was wrong, like with no rematch clause, still good career: row with title fights won in different weight classes, now most likely he will be replaced with next star, also from more well known country and all will be OK there.
even heart, to the level we sometimes see, is a genetic anomaly. i sometimes see shows of courage that humble the **** out of me. like that old japanese guy that took it to that mexican a couple weeks back. people dont realize how rare that type of gameness really is. thats genetic, thats part of the operating system installed.
FFS Loma is not the same size as PAC .. pac has the calves & dome of a ****ing MW.. I saw a video once of manny with triple G & they had the same size heads LOL.. I've seen Loma in person & he is tiny, he has narrow shoulders & a slender very slight frame .. he could easily fight at 130 even now at this late stage.. Pac carries muscle much better than Loma .. & quite obviously has a much denser bone structure .. & it's no shame not being able to go through the weights like manny did anyway is it? Not many can.. Lopez looked a different weight class come fight night, he'll be at 147 within 2/3 years I guarantee it.. operating in the same weight class doesn't mean you're evenly matched, Lopez is just young enough & smart enough to know that he can utilise his natural explosiveness, strength & athleticism to maximum effect at that small weight for now but he'll outgrow it quick..
An Ali wouldn’t be jack **** without his legs, or foreman for his brute strength etc. Alexis Arguello is a true atg quite clearly
Lopez won the first 7 ridiculously comfortably, it was shocking, and won the 12th big. Lomo won rounds 8-11 also very comfortably. It was a clear-as-day fight. Having said that, there is so much room for Lomo to improve upon those first 7 rounds. Yet, the fight played out how it did. An aggressive Lomo early on probably gets flattened as the "smartest and best boxer in the history of history!" certainly wouldn't have sleepwalked through the first 7 rounds of a big unification fight just to dig a whole for himself to depend on scoring multiple knockdowns to win.
