    Louis, Marciano, Ali, Tyson etc.

Putting on 12 stone was his own doing. Ali and Louis had years off as well.

I'm sitting back seeing how he goes. There's always a huge rush to rate guys before they are done and it sometimes explodes in ones face. If he beats Wilder again and Joshua then follows with a couple of top contenders i think it would be hard to keep him out of the 10. His career is very impressive to this point.

Well given he's been ordered to fight Wilder next before he can even think about fighting Joshua i'd say beating Wilder is pretty important yeah? This is obviously what RMII meant.

Based off what? His run to the title is littered with nobodies, except Chisora who reliably loses to everyone and Cunningham who was tiny by comparison.
Then you have old Wlad in a stinker and Wilder.
That's it. And based off that, he's top 12? Few have Riddick Bowe as high as 12, and Bowe did more than Fury has up til this point.
There's no guarantee at all he's getting past Joshua either, if they even ever fight.

His comeback has been quite impressive though, hasn't it ?
I'm not saying Wilder is great or anything, but he is dangerous and for Fury to come back from that and beat him is impressive. The fact that you mention Ali and Louis sums up how rare it is to come back well from years away.

Compare to Mike Tyson, whose bad lifestyle apparently made him fodder for Douglas in a matter of months, and a stint in jail apparently finished him off for good. We never hear the end of all that.
Or Dempsey, who was completely shot after a couple of lay-offs, outclassed hoplessly and helpless against Tunney.

Fury's comeback has been very impressive. He looked done in 2017.

Fury's miles away from being an ATG though.
He's not in the top 20 heavyweights of all time.
He needs to beat Wilder again and the Joshua/Usyk winner to start ranking, at least.

Fury wouldn't be a lock for top five if he beat both Joshua, Usyk and a few other ranked guys. Joshua, Usyk, Wilder, and an old Klitschko isn't a tremendously impressive résumé. Sure, you could speculate that he has Whyte and maybe Ruiz, in there, as well, but are they actually that impressive?

A win over Usyk and a win over Joshua would be the only historically competitive wins that he'd scored IMO. Wilder sucks, Klitschko was ancient and everyone else are pretty poor as well.

Holmes was 2 fights from beating Marciano’s unbeaten record and 6 from going past Louis 25 successive defenses. If he had done both would he be the undisputed number one of all time?

Nope, and to be thorough, neither was Wilder. It was certainly, easily the best win Fury ever had, but as I've mentioned before, I'm not sure at all that Wilder is even Norton-level.

No offense, but it is? He beat Wilder, very good. He beat old man Klitschko...uh, yay.

    Misquoted for accuracy.

    That covers it, imo.

Based off this. Name heavyweights with better wins than klitschko away (9 years undefeated) and wilder undefeated 5 year champion. There’s not many.

let’s go back to your posts in 2015. Bet you weren’t calling Wlad old. You were most probably like the rest.

also the Chisora wins were when chisora was prime and undefeated. Cunningham was a nice win. So was the hammer stoppage at the time.

    Ali: Foreman, Norton, Frazier
    Holmes: Norton, Weaver, Cooney.
    Holy: Douglas, Bowe, Moorer.
Tyson: Spinks, Tucker, Holmes (though, to be fair, Holmes was a just-turned grandpa)

It's obvious your favorite fighter is Fury, and there's nothing wrong with that (Holmes is mine). But he still has a way to go before cracking even the top 15. At this point I don't even rate him over Bowe...who did he beat the level of a prime Holyfield?

    1. Ali
    2. Louis
    3. Holmes
    4. Holyfield
    5. Foreman
    6. Lewis
    7. Marciano
    8. Frazier
    9. Tyson
    10. Wlad
    11. Liston
    12. Dempsey
    13. Johnson
    14. Vitali
    15. Bowe
    16. Charles
    17. Fury
    18. Tunney
    19. Norton
    20. Patterson
    21) Walcott
    22) Fitzsimmons
    23) Joshua
    24) Jeffries
    25) Sullivan
    26) Weaver
    27) Wilder

Fury is 2-0-1 in title fights.
Also taking the title from the champ in his back yard has happened innumerable times in boxing. Too many times to even make it a thing.
You're also welcome to dig up any of my posts from 2015 concerning Wlad.
Wlad had obviously slipped. Look, it was a good win, but let's not go overboard with it either.
Wilder is seen by most as one of the weaker belt holders, despite his great record.
You know this yourself since you hang out on these boards and no doubt speak to others online or in real life.
'Prime' Chisora is still Chisora, at best a fringe contender type who has lost to basically every heavyweight worth mentioning. It's really not a big deal.
    2-0-1 in title fights.
Is that really enough to secure him 12th spot in a division that's been around for well over 100 years?
    I don't think so.

Fury is an interesting subject. If he does do both Wilder and AJ, he's got two generational type wins. But he really doesn't have an awful lot more in ATG terms.

No one the level of Holyfield. Your man Holmes nearly beat a prime Holyfield at 42. Holmes is top 3. Holyfield Is top 5. Klitschko is just outside.
