Saddler was the better ring general. Other than Pep one time, no one could make SS fight their fight. It was pretty much always going to be on his terms. Saddler should also be ranked higher. His best three wins — Pep, Pep and Pep — are better than any of Monzon’s wins by a far margin.
I know you're both in TBRB, hence I asked. I know he's probably very busy, but it'd be nice if he popped in here once in a while to say hi.
IIRC, Sandy wore him down and the later rounds were a Saddler-style mosh. But I haven’t seen that one in forever.
Haha, first thing I saw in a random sampling was Flanagan tying up Sandy in a full Nelson lock. Spot-checked some of the other video (it’s broken into four parts) and looks like Del would stick and move for a minute and then wrestle — both guys using elbows and forearms and whatnot … and while he was effective, I’d say all that grappling was definitely fighting Sandy’s style of fight.
