How do you see this match up play out between 2 skilled, well rounded operators? Pedroza fought at BW but didn't have much success at the weight. Chandler definitely had the body frame to be able to move up to FW. Assuming Chandler could make it up to FW how does he do against a guy like Pedroza?
I like Chandler , but Pedroza was a step or two better. Pedroza wins a UD. Though he'd lose a point or two because of his fouling tactics.
That 8 pound difference was a lot in the era of same day weigh ins and there is a reason that Chandler never made the move. At 26 Pedroza beats the brakes off him.
Jolyin Jeff Chandler by decision, Eusebio Pedroza had to resort to dirty tactics when losing a fight. Also he was kayoed by Alfonso Zamora very early, he had few recognizable names on his record unlike Salvador Sanchez who defeated Danny Little Red Lopez twice by stoppages.
Dont want to go against the forumers here but I believe that US fighters are simply better and Jeff with his 5 - 9 frame would probably carry the weight well Pedroza is one of those overrated fighters so I'll go with Jeff by a good 3 points edge
and let's be honest; Pedroza got a couple of gift decision and along with a gift draw so its not hard to imagine Jeff coming out on top.
I'm so glad you brought that up. When I started watching him my first fight I saw of his was vs Lockridge which I thought he lost. The Laporte fight was just insane. He should have easily lost that one too.
Pedroza like to back hand and hit low when losing. I do not look at it as an edge, just a dirty fighter that gets desperate, Salvador Sanchez was a more recognizable champion who never had to resort to those tactics. When did Pedroza ever fight in Madison Square Garden like Sanchez?, the answer is Never.
At the time I held Chandler in high regard at 118 and Pedroza was a top dog at 126....I never thought of them fighting each other but if they had Pedroza would have been too big and too good for Joltin Jeff
the Laporte fight was terrible. I honestly dont know why he wasnt disqualified and I dont understand what it is that brings out this level of praise. He lost to Lockridge - twice. proving that he wasnt even the best of the REST of the contenders! and couldnt get better than a draw against Taylor, a fighter with limited professional experience The way I see him, he was nothing more than a durable fighter with an average punch, slightly above average skills, with excellent stamina but nothing great
