Even worse than the CJ Ross card ... oh yeah, that was Canelo too! Coincidence?

I don't know about everybody but sure there was a motivation from DAZN to make that fight. Many fans though did not want to see a 3rd fight, since as you know even before they moved over to DAZN when HBO closed up shop, many fans had been arguing that GGG was too old, and with GGG only getting older if it happened again, it would be less compeititve than the first 2 fights so there would be no reason for it. Many fans simply wanted to see Canelo fight younger fighters instead of chasing old men. Especially an old man Grandpa GGG that he had already fought twice and just beat. I think most fans were satisfied with the 24 rounds they gave us and had no real desire to see them go at it again.

That said, it's a fight that makes sense financially and I know someone like you is desperate for GGG to have one more chance to avenge his loss. I personally wouldn't be against it, and when Canelo was asked about it, he made it clear that he would fight whoever the fans want to see him fight. I think the main problem was that the fans were not overwhelmingly demanding it. Many wanted to see him fight younger fighters more his age rather than Grandpa GGG. Many said he would have no chance vs Callum Smith due to the size difference. (this was before Callum fought Ryder) Many on this forum said Saunders was all wrong for him and would be the guy to beat Canelo.

I'm glad we saw those fights instead of GGG 3 because now we know how good Canelo is, by dominating Smith then brutally making Suanders retire on his stool, now there's no debate about how good Canelo is. If Canelo would have fought GGG a 3rd time instead, we would likely get another 12 round beating of GGG with his fans claiming a robbery, so that wouldn't help Canelo's legacy like beating Smith and Saunders so impressively did. And of course now he's one step away from Undisputed where if he fought GGG again instead, GGG didn't have any belts to offer at 168 and the belt that GGG has now is only Canelo's scraps that GGG got when Canelo moved up.

Another problem was the pandemic. I think if the pandemic didn't happen there was a chance that Canelo GGG could have happened last year. But Canelo GGG 3 would have never happened during the pandemc in front of no fans, so that's another reason why it didn't happen. Now GGG is even older so Canelo has nothing to gain from beating GGG again. It's no wonder why he's moved on to bigger and better things. You wanna call that ducking, you can call it whatever you want but Canelo has left GGG in the dust and and is carving out a legacy by moving up and daring to be great and doing things like trying to be Undisputed at SMW that GGG is not willing to do himself.
I haven't heard GGG saying anything about wanting to fight Canelo recently. You talk about how the older GGG gets the more Canelo would want to fight him, because then it would be easier for him, which of course is total wild speculation (and imagination) on your part. Canelo doesn't appear to have any interest in fighting GGG again, not now, not ever. Been there done that twice. On the contrary, it seems that the better that Canelo gets the less GGG fancies a fight. Like you said GGG was quoted as wanting a 3rd fight back in 2019, but has he made any of those kind of statements about wanting to fight Canelo since then? Last year, this year? Not only is GGG getting older, but he sees what Canelo is doing to people and knows his chances of beating Canelo get lower and lower every day that passes. So now I don't hear Canelo's name coming out of GGG's mouth anymore these days, which isn't a knock on GGG, it's just father time and knowing how hard it's going to be for him to beat Canelo now that he's pushing 40.

I haven't heard it really being demanded by the fans anymore either like it was after the rematch by some. I think most fans at this point want to see Canelo fight younger fighters not Grandpa GGG who he already fought twice and beat.

Cliff's notes - It was better for Canelo to fight Smith and Saunders instead of GGG a 3rd time because these guys are younger fighters in their prime. What does fighting GGG a 3rd time do for Canelo at this point? If Canelo wins or even KO's GGG, GGG's too old and he'll get no credit. There's not much fan interest in a 3rd fight at this point. I haven't heard GGG talking about fighting Canelo lately, seems like that ship has sailed.

Debatable since GGG is elite and those other two will be forgotten in ten years
At THIS point? Not much besides money. He should have rematched already.
I fully expect Canelo to start pushing for a Golovkin fight at 168 later on, especially if Golovkin shows signs of decline.
Scuttled under the couch, you mean. It's clear canelo has no interest whatsoever of doing #3 unless it looks like a walkover.

It seems Oscar never learns from his mistakes. You would think as a hall of fame boxer with a good boxing IQ he wouldn't let dumb women constantly trick and manipulate him.

Floyd beat Canelo easily BUT Canelo has never LEGITIMATELY beaten GGG. Just like Floyd never LEGITIMATELY beat Pacquaio. Even Floyd Sr
asked Floyd why he was fighting scared & told him he was losing the fight
