Tbh I get the criticism of Dubois.. But some of it is excessive.. He landed several bombs on Joyce that would certainly drop other top ten heavyweights if not take them out. What other heavyweight boxer has the combination of footwork, chin, constant jab and volume Joyce has? The constant jab heavy jab dissuaded Dubois and that in combination with Joyces chin made it all the more difficult.

I honestly think Dubois could beat people like Ruiz, Parker and Whyte even in this raw state. He has a solid jab, good relatively fast footwork (he can be a bit slow initiating punches but when he starts it looks pretty devastating), nice heavy combos upstairs and downstairs..

Maybe I'm overrating him a bit but I wouldn't put it past Dubois knocking out people like Ruiz (40 yo shot Arreola dropped him and made his legs wobble twice), Parker (Fa who is meh was landing clean shots here and there) and Whyte (dropped against several opponents and KOd by the ghost of Povetkin).

Yeah. HW prime usually last longer than CW prime not alone lower weight classes.
0 nerves spent to think about weight in in limit and year and longer plans for this & there a lot of other things too/
Unless too long mileage in amateurs is here under belt, :( this ofc usually is more often EE boxers problem not for US, U.K based boxers.

Dinu should have been a decent challenge, but it looked like he came to lose tonight. No fight in him. As CST put it: pathetic.

Whatever. Now we know we can forget about Dinu, and Dubois probably needed that morale boost.

Joyce was hurt with body punches by light punching Bryant Jennings for crying out loud.

Some people get excited over everything. Especially these European boxing fans who aren't use to having anything. Daniel Dubois is nothing special. But you could say that about every heavyweight now days.

Daniel knocked out a low level guy who was knocked out twice before. So lets not making a big deal about it.

I was hoping it would last a few rounds and that Dinu would give him a test but he folded as soon as he got caught clean with the right hand. Dubois' power in that right hand is very real so maybe it's just a case of him being too powerful for him. But Dinu should've come out with more purpose in that opening round though so I can see why people doubt his motivation.

That was rubbish. Did you have to pay to actually watch it? The ghost of a pathetic Dinu landed several jabs, before he basically gave up under a routine 2019-style Dubois attack. Dubois gets absolutely smoked by any decent heavyweight who fancies a war. He’s stiff and gets rattled when he’s hit. Plus, his expression at the denouement made him look like a relieved child.

I'm not saying Dubois is some legend or world level - the point still stands around his attributes and how he landed 3 or 4 bombs that would have taken out some of the less granite chinned. I'm saying he has a good chance against the likes of Ruiz, Parker and Whyte.

I'm also not giving him any credit for this Dinu performance, as he's a knockover job

Dubois is one of several western boxers who would have benefitted enormously from more high level amateur time.

Not 10 years and 2 Olympics type time, just a couple years to let the brain and skills mature.

He did have some success against Joyce it wasn't a one sided fight. But Joyce exposed some glaring flaws that some of the more knowledgeable people on here pointed out before the fight. Dubois has a tonne of natural talent but he's very limited and even one dimensional and talent alone won't be enough when he does eventually step up again.

I wouldn't favour him over Ruiz, Parker or Whyte. He could maybe beat them, with his power anything is possible but right now he's got too many flaws that can be exploited for him to be favourite over any of them.

Going right at Ruiz comes at a cost, sure Ruiz can be got too, but his counters are dangerous. Much like Arreola and Joshua I'm sure Dubois won't have a problem finding Ruiz's chin but it's what comes back after you hit him that is the problem. If you have a good chin like Arreola you can get away with it for a while, if you don't have a good chin like Joshua then your in for a world of hurt.

Dubois is more than powerful enough to KO Whyte but just because Povetkin did it doesn't mean Dubois will. Povetkin, even an old Povetkin is far superior at setting up his shots than Dubois. Dubois is far more predictable with his attacks and of course Whyte's left hook counter could be a real problem for Dubois who is there to be hit after throwing.

Parker is probably the easiest fight for Dubois of the three because much like Dubois, Parker has big flaws in his game that can be exploited. But Parker is durable he won't just get blown out and he's quick enough to get off first on Dubois and score when he does throw. I wouldn't confidently pick Dubois over Parker, I suspect it's a close fight, whoever wins.

Best boxing is with really natural juice and hometown fights in home country with home town advantages on A side.

Dinu at this point is congealed and compacted rubbish enough that even letting him escape the 1st has to be seen as failing to gold under par for Dubois, a supposed huge banger. :ohno

*Sigh* I spent all week telling anyone who would listen, and a few who wouldn't, that Dinu had the tools to give Dubois a bit of a test here. He should have had them. Sure, we knew his very soul was made of glass - but when did he become a clueless fat lumbering oaf?

Oh well, DDD back on track regardless.

...btw, @Chuck Norris, @CST80, @f1ght3rz or whoever else may be applicable - I'm going to be putting the RBR thread for Bragging Rights up in about 21½ hours, but its title won't have the names Floyd Mayweather or Logan Paul (it'll be "TMT: Jarrett Hurd vs. Luís Arias & Badou Johannes Gabriel Jack vs. Dervis Armando Colina Leal RBR" instead) because, well, that isn't a sanctioned pro boxing match, whether technically main event of the PPV or not. :sisi1 Just in case anybody was going to notice the prelims stream (probably on TMT's YT or FB page) about to start and glance at the forum and not see Mayweather's name and throw a duplicate up in a panic.

Don't worry, I'd have done the same thing actually. Just like I did with the last Paul card.

Dubois came in 4lbs heavier against Joyce. You can see the difference in speed. He would be welcomed into the bomb squad with open arms. Just needs to leave Uncle Franks basement.
