Michael Grant > Marciano (Grant was a lumbering tree of a human but he was massive, had extreme strength and physical tools, especially reach, and I think his useful weight / strength advantage could see a surprise upset of the Rock here). BTW I'm not thinking of the Grant when his confidence broke; its a shame his heart was never really in boxing. He's a good example of why I don't necessarily buy the 'all our best Hvy talent is playing gridiron or basketball' explanation you often hear re. state of US heavyweights.

Marciano > Wilder Its funny, all Wilder would need to do is time Marciano once given his genuine freakish power, and then follow up. Yet, despite Breland being a puncher who often brought opponents onto his power, I've never seen Wilder draw a punch to counter or set a trap. He must be such a plank to try and train. I really wonder if he could fight effectively being pressure....tools are useless if you can't use them.

Yeah I know a lot of people won't like it but I just think due to the physical advantages that Grant and Wilder have they would beat Marciano.

Do you think Grant would of beaten Wilder?

I definitely take your point, Marciano-Wilder is a real toss up for me, and I tend towards the smarter fighter / corner in those type matches. The obvious problem for Wilder (other than I'd expect him to get disorganized under pressure) is that Fury showed that he isn't good at withstanding bodyshots. In fact, he looked distressed vs Fury. If Fury could hurt Wilder to the body, I wonder what Marciano would do with a dedicated, unyielding body attack if he could get there (inside Wilder's power).

Guys with Wilder's body shape, like Herbie Hide, Renaldo Snipes etc, have rib-cages that beg to attacked and often those long, lean fighters are so used to fighting at distance on their term that they just aren't used to having their rib-cage violated by a Frazier, Marciano, Tyson etc.

But still you've got to go through that power, which is really 'real' when your the smaller guy having to traverse the danger zone all throughout the fight to be effective yourself. So surely Wilder could time Marciano?...but then you remember how badly Wilder fights at times, how perplexed and unable to think on his feet when things weren't going his way, how even Mark Breland couldn't teach him, and how he doesn't seem to be able to fight outside his one mold. Basically, I think that Wilder was always there to be taken. Could Marciano and Goldman solve that problem - I think so. But gee that power is something isn't it!

No, I think based on styles and tools that Wilder would reach him...I don't remember his defense being that good. He could get away with that against a much smaller Marciano, but against other big sized Hvy's of comparable height / reach like Wilder, I'd expect him to lose. I think he was another one of those courageous fighters who wasn't really 'into' boxing (like Cooney), so sometimes its hard to know if they were stopped because their chin let them down or because heart wasn't in it.

Yeah to be fair for boxing not being his first or even second sporting interest I do think Grant showed plenty of heart against Golota and to get up from that vicious right at the end of round 1 from Lennox Lewis.

Every one of these fighters knocks out Marciano in the first round. He might make it to second with Qawi by luck.
