The size difference between Liston and Joshua would roughly be the size difference between Logal Paul and Floyd Mayweather. Obviously, Liston does not have Floyd's brittle hands and had insane strength of his own but size does matter. Joshua could just jump him at the beginning and Liston might not be able to overcome it.
No if I should believe in available in internet sources hosted in US Mr Liston had weighted for fight vs Ali at 220 lbs while A.J was approx 250 lbs vs 240 lbs Wlad for example. All claims how good boxer A.J if compare with Wlad or Vitali are based on 1 fight with beltless, coming out of retirement ring rusty 41 y.o " lazy " and very rich Wlad. As we all here do know that more impressive A.J looks vs boxers older than 37 years in the ring with him and this ir reality and his legacy and marquee fights today. Also his recent fight was vs 39 y.o Pulev already beated up by then looks that not enough OLD Wlad in the ring. He even had been required the same time as small HW in Povetkin to finish Takam, more time to finish 39 y.o Pulev if compare with 33 y.o Pulev vs 38 y.o rich, not " hungry " Wlad. Damn and this kid is sold to us as world beater?
I just skimmed p1. As I'm responding to the OP, I'll say that my first thought was "not another one of these" although I think this isn't a bad one. Here's my problem with "one of these", its RIDICULOUS that it's so close, which is what often happens when you compare modern HWs to those from 1, 2, or even more generations ago! There's still way too much nostalgia bias (and other ones) with too many fans. The OP made good points - that I've made too over many years - that makes many fans uncomfortable for some reason. AJ wipes out Liston 9/10 times, if not 10/10. The ONLY chance Liston has is if AJ gets sloppy early.
Anthony Joshua is overrated. But So is Sonny Liston. Sonny Liston's best wins were over a 180 pound Floyd Patterson and slow unskilled Cleveland Williams. Joshua hasn't done much either. His best win was against a faded Wladimir Klitschko in a fight Wlad almost stopped him with one punch. Liston intimidated 190 pound or less fighters. Joshua wouldn't be a afraid of Liston. Joshua should win by either knockout or a easy decision. But since Joshua does have a glass chin he could get caught and if does Joshua gets knocked out.
The suggestion here is that Joshua is more skilled, he simply isn’t, he also doesn’t have a reach advantage. I like Joshua but his whiskers aren’t the best if Liston reaches the chin then it’s lights out.
Idk who wins this is a pretty big size difference aj shouldn't be losing to smaller fighters he's big and strong and powerful or at least that's what his fans tell me
