Slavery has been around since time immemorial, why do we just continually focus on one particular time & trade? Egyptians were doing it for millennia, Islam too.. & nearly 1.5 million Europeans were stolen and sold into slavery by African pirates from around 1500-1800, nobody seems to talk about that one… Barbary slave trade. Modern day people trafficking is rife also, you don't hear much about that on the news… In fact the term slave has its origins in the word slav. The slavs, who inhabited a large part of Eastern Europe, were taken as slaves by the Muslims of Spain during the ninth century AD.
