Jalolov looks the stand out guy imo. Hes improved loads since getting battered by big Joe Joyce in 2016. But theres quite a few guys who have a chance too.

Jalolov is the clear favourite, with Pero and Clarke in medal contention for me. Aliev is a dark horse.

I don't follow amateur boxing as closely as I used to and I'm not familiar with a few of those.

Looking at his record Veryasov has lost three times in the last year alone

    Including getting stopped by Jalolov

I saw Clarke's fight against Aliev the other day and that was disappointing. That being said, Aliev looks really good and he beat him well.

I think you'd have to go with Jalolov as he's beaten almost all those fighters sans Clarke who beat him but that was a long time ago back in 2014

It was a long time Jalolov beat Pero too though (2015)

In fact, he's beaten Kunkabayev, Aliev, Huni, and Veryasov, and Torrez in the last two years alone albeit according to Boxrec he's 4-2 against Kunkabayev who stopped him in 2015

Fun fact > There will be 4 Russian Super heavyweights competing in this weightclass of 16 qualified boxers.

    Ivan Veriasov representing Russia,
Mourad Aliev representing France but born in Russia
Mahammed Abdullayev representing Azerbaijian but born in Russia
Danis Latypov representing Bahrain but born in Russia

Big J is the clear favourite for me. I thought Clarke and Aliev looked a clear step down from his level in their recent bout.

How it all plays out probably depends on the draw.

I hate to put the fly in the ointment, but isn't is ALWAYS a rip-off these days? I have never heard a single person say that Joshua or Yoka deserved it.

It's kinda funny how 6 of the guys in the poll are Southpaws.
The overall level looks high to me, lots of skilled fighters. That said, Jalolov looks like he's clearly above the others atm.
Aliev reminds me a bit of him, but he relies more on his lead hook (while also being a Southpaw).

I feel like Jalolov wouldn't have a competition.

    Jalolov seems the stand out.

He could be fighting for a pro World Title in the next 18 months to be honest.
