from WBN: Here’s what we know so far: Top Rank will broadcast at least 18 shows per year on Sky Sports. Sky will appoint a replacement UK promoter in Eddie Hearn’s absence. Top Rank will stage UK shows and sign more UK fighters. Shows will get broadcast at regular UK hours except for Top Rank USA events. Top Rank’s biggest stars will participate, except for Tyson Fury. Top Rank events will be eligible for Sky Sports Box Office.
Was looking good until the final line. Looks simply like Sly Sports Pay per Puddings FC with different players next season.
I'm rooting for the rags to riches story of Mick Hennesy finally reaching the heights of a decent broadcasting linkup, though I'd miss those C5 nights.
It's not being sold off, they've just renewed the premier league rights. They are looking for a broadcast partner to share rights, with a possibility of selling the whole thing.
This deal could work well for both parties. Obviously it's boxing content for Sky who have just lost MR. Top Rank however have Taylor and Fury, maybe some others down the line (Eubank JR?). Exposure on Sky lets them maintain UK exposure for their fighters and keep them relevant for potential PPV fights further down the line, where Sky Box Office is an established platform to target the UK market. Maybe it's also a tactical move from Top Rank. Eddie's DAZN tank is parked on their lawn, now they've ensured he doesn't get to keep his home market free from external predators.
Very much a tactical move by arum/top rank.its going to be tough for Hearn and dazn.arum and haymon will be willing to do anything to keep them in their place.they have got it in for fast Eddie!
Sky have also inked a deal with BOXXER. Seems from the press release they aren’t thinking of adding any more promoters on an exclusive basis in the short term. Sky have moved quickly in fairness to them.
