What question ?! I already told you the reason Holmes and Foreman could do well cause they were much better than Marciano. What other question do you have ?! Is it about me picking Roy to beat him ? I'd pick him 100 times out of 100. Roy is simply that much better. The difference between their hand and foot speed is gianormous.
Jones Jr. Could win a 12 rd fight against Marciano (But it would be life and death for him the last few rds) In a 15 rd fight I don't believe he survives. Marciano wouldn't be passive or dissuaded by a few hard punches as Ruiz was. Late in the fight , the pressure Marciano would apply, and the accumulated damage Jone's would be taking. (Marciano would purposely hit his arms and hips, landing punches anywhere he could, gradually slow him down) Would take a toll. I see it as late in the fight, the embarrassing misses Marciano was making early start to land. Around the 9th rd Jones jr starts to feel the affects and get more defensive minded. 10th,11th and 12thrd's would be a life and death struggle for him. If the fights is 15rds. Jones won't hear the final bell.
Jones can easily win the first 6 rounds. Way too much speed for poor ol' Rocky. I reckon both of us can agree on that. After that, let's say they share 4 rounds. So up to this point we have RJJ winning 8 rounds to 2. What's stopping him from just running the remaining 5 rounds and perhaps winning one of them ?!
I know enough. I'm not blind like some other posters are, I have seen Rocky fight, my eyes are just fine to be able to assess him.
With every post you make you make it abundantly obvious you can’t asses any fighter. Will no longer waste another second responding.
To be square on the matter, Roy was 35 when Tarver sparked him, an age by which Rocky had already retired. And Roy was a full 50 fights into his career, and mind you, his first 40 fights weren't against club circuit palookas. He was fighting guys like Hopkins only 20 fights in. It's not an apples to apples comparison.
Would Jones be able to continue to run after taking a constant beating on his thighs ,hips and arms for 10 rds by Marciano? Or any aggressive puncher above Lt.heavy. Sooner or later that type of aggression and punishment will have a effect. That's where the difference is. Fighters like Marciano won't get frustrated or go into a shell because they missed a few punches, or got hit by a few. They will continue to work, knowing they may not be landing on the "sweet spot", but they are landing , hard damaging punches that will eventually slow the opponent . So yes Jones maybe leading after 6rds, they may trade rds 7-10, what happens when in the 11th rd that great mobility has been nullified. Jones was a great athlete that happened to be a boxer, what happens when that athleticism is taken away by trauma? Was he noted for a great chin? How about traditional defensive skills not related to his athleticism and fast twitch reflexes? Jones was one of the most gifted fighters in the history of the sport. If it was a fight with the rules of who can land the most punches without any force behind them, no pushing and shoving, no holding and hitting, Jones wins easily. But in a real fight where power , physicality, attrition, a bigger stronger man ,and based on what happened to Jones multiple times after he slowed down(The ko losses) is it really that hard to think a fighter like Marciano, Foster, Frazier, or Qawi and other tough aggressive fighters wouldn't be able to eventually catch-up to Jones and expose him? Especially fighters Lt.Heavy and above?
