    I remember that.
    I was 13 and had been watching the fight. About the 7th round my father came into the room with something that had to be done ASAP.
    Mad as hell, I ran off to do it, whatever it was, and hurried home. I walked in right after the decision was announced, my father still excited and telling me that I had just missed a great 15th round.

    Great battle by both fighters. Holmes showed the world his class as a boxer. On the other hand that is a tough way to lose the title if your Kenny Norton.

    It must have been harrowing for him, especially in the light of his...uh, "loss" against Ali in the rubber match. Norton should have been champ a couple years before this fight, easily imo.

    One of the best heavyweight bouts of the 1970s. And as we all know,with the talent and great fights of that decade,that is really saying something.

    Yes and when you consider the talking point on the streets at the time was 'you gotta take it from the champ'. Meaning win almost every round or knock him out. That was just an excuse to keep Ali champion a bit longer.
