Looking atbthe WBC rankings below him: 1. Wilder - already fighting Fury and his handletlrs wouldn't have any faith in him against Whyte. 2. Usyk - Fighting AJ. 3. Ruiz - already turned 2 offers down to fight Whyte 4. Ortiz - already turned down an offer to fight Whyte and Whyte should be aiming to fight a better standard of opposition than Ortiz. 5. Parker - Whyte has already beaten him. 6. Joyce - In talks to fight Takam 7. Hunter - will make short work of wilson and is the best available opponent for Whyte. 8. Povetkin- already beaten him. 9. Ajagba - Too poor of standard of opponent for Whyte to be fighting. Scheduled to fight Sanchez. 10. Hrgovic - fighting for the IBF mandatory next. 11. Kabayel - ducked Joyce but would make for a decent opponent. 12. Yoka - would make for a good fight. The best available opponent after Hunter. 13. Sanchez - scheduled to fight Ajagba. 14. Martin - okay fight but his rep was ruined by how AJ easily beat him(no shame in that). 15. Chisora - Whtye has already beaten him twice in very entertaining fights.
It would be cool if it were Ruiz, Ortiz, or Hunter. The right fight for all involved really. But I want to say after the Povetkin rematch Eddie explicitly said he wanted an easy fight in America, someone like Brezeale. Maybe we'll get lucky and it will be Charles Martin.
If Whyte is on the undercard they aren’t going to shell out for an expensive overseas opponent. They also aren’t going to want to be taking too many risks as another loss is damaging at this stage. I think these opponents will be considered- Martin Bakole Otto Wallin Simon Kean (was recently bumped up the rankings for one of the belts, was this is preparation for a big fight?) Zhilei Zhang
Charles Martin will do. Can sell the public on a redemption story. Low risk opponent, but at a higher standard than what his peers are knocking over. Whyte hasn't even fought for a title yet. As much as I appreciate the fights he puts on, he would be an idiot to take on any more top 15 opponents before he gets his long overdue title shot.
Would like to see Whyte fight Ruiz if he's doing it in the States. That seems like the most winnable, high profile fight for him, though Whyte detractors will obviously point to Ruiz's struggles with Nips to marginalise Whyte's win over him. Ortiz is a waste of time and I don't reckon he'd fancy it anyway. Ortiz these days only takes on bums and low level journeymen. A couple of people have mentioned Martin. That's a good shout.
Martin may still be injured he was meant to fight Hunter in an IBF mandated final eliminator with Hunter but pulled out due to injury which is why Hunter/Hrgovic was mandated. Even if he's free to fight in Sept I'm not sure they'll risk his high IBF ranking and wait for the next round of eliminators to get a title shot.
Andy Ruiz would be a great opponent. Other possibilites include Ortiz, Parker II, perhaps Joyce whose clock is ticking at 36.
Eddie has already said it will be a tickover. He’s fought decent names back to back and he thinks he should just hold his position ready for when the titles free up
Overrated and glass jawed Whyte will go to bed again if he faces anyone good before cashing out. He and his handlers know this. Doubt we'll see him in with a good opponent.
Hearn talking about whyte fighting in America next. I’m guessing it’ll be against the likes of arreola, Washington or Martin
Yeah Ortiz is soon to end his career I guess, but for the sake of end this avoiding accusations, just make Whyte-Ortiz happen and we will never need to talk about this "hypothetic" match again. Plus, if he beats Ortiz, he can put pressure to get a Wilder fight. Wilder, who claimed that he'll fight anyone who beats Ortiz. Besides, Ortiz didn't look bad in his recent fights, despite being KO'd by Wilder, he was the pacemaker in the fight. I think Ortiz is the more intelligent guy between the two, but Whyte is able to drag the fight to late rounds, where Ortiz will be gassed out and lose by KO.
