Strange how size doesn’t matter in some fights but does in others...makes you think.

If we’re talking about Gerry Cooney, who never went the distance with a serious opponent and got stopped by a light heavyweight, his size was something the could be overcome.

Povetkin might be the most overrated fighter on this board.I am looking at his resume and I do not get it.The only time he stepped up against a fighter of prime Holmes caliber, he lost every round. povetkin against 91 version of Holmes, now that would be interesting.

Holmes struggled with guys below his level, on the other hand, like Carl Williams.

Snipes, Shavers, Norton, Witherspoon….Holmes beat guys near Povetkin’s level, but wasn’t exactly washing them.

I see Povetkin as better than a latter stage Norton (who wasn't the greatest in his best form) and certainly than a Weaver or Truth.

Holmes could fight down to his opponents. He squeaks one out here due to his toughness and ability to respond and crank the action up one notch above his opposition. Such was his brand of greatness.

Your point is rather then that the fight would be competitive. That I can agree with you.Povetkin did nothing which would suggest that he could beat prime Holmes.

I disagree that Povetkin was better than that version of Norton. Certainly not

Prime Holmes vs Prime Povetkin: I favour Holmes by UD
91 version Holmes vs Prime Povetkin: I favour Holmes by a narrow decision

I think Norton is one of the most overrated guys ever that benefits a lot from the circular reasoning of giving Ali trouble being enough to make them great fighters.

If anybody is overrated here, it is Povetkin. His record is pretty average. Byrd was shot to pieces when he fought Povetkin, I saw that fight.

Idk how anyone can think Povetkins overrated. Best contender in decades and maybe one of the best contenders ever. Wins over Chagaev, Huck, Takam, Rahman, Byrd, Price, Whyte and more...most solid contenders only have about two solid wins on their resumes. He’s wayyyy above the curve.
