My favorite boxers to watch are Hagler, Tyson, Gavillan and Robinson.
I am anything but a FMJ fanboy.
However, unlike you, I try to stay as objective as possible.
Now, it's not impossible those guy beat him, but I only favor Hearns to do it.
Leonard would get tagged by Mayweather's counters.
Duran will be frustrated. He didn't ajust to mix it up against Leonard, so what makes you think he can here ?

 

I don't buy that you aren't a Mayweather fanboy. Either that or you have fallen for the hyperbole.

Again, Mayweather struggled against pressure boxers. Duran is one of the best pressure boxers in history and would give Mayweather fits. Leonard's volume punching would be too much for Mayweather to handle. His counter punching wouldn't make that much difference.

 

I think it's hard to separate ability from legacy in these discussions!

Obviously Mayweather hasn't got a record than compares to, say, Greb's. With about 300 fights and dozens of wins against future HOFers, Greb has maybe the most impressive record ever. So legacy-wise, he ***** all over Floyd! Does this mean, he was a better boxer? Well, since we have never seen him fight, we don't really know. But based on the knowledge we have of the men he beat, he can't have been too bad... and it's certainly fair to put him above Mayweather on an all-time great list.

SRR is of course another, who absolutely deserves to be ranked higher - and an argument could be made for several others named in this thread.

But when people start talking about someone like Fitzsimmons, I don't get it... looks like part of an anti-Mayweather agenda to me!

Can't we just be serious, and admit that Floyd is one of the smartest, most accomplished boxers ever? Maybe not the very best, but surely up there with many of the greats from the past.

Read my post history and you will clearly see that my favorite fighter is Mike Tyson. I've never enjoyed boxers like Mayweather. That doesn't mean I can't give him credit when it's due. In the worst case scenario he's top 20 p4p all time

Def will be top 15 across the board in ten years, if not higher. Best fighter of two decades in a 130 year old sport is better than top 30.
