Wilder should have sent a statue of himself - absolutely pointless having the press conference and giving nothing
Wilder looks mentally shot to pieces. Doesn’t bode well for when a twenty stone gypsy TANK is standing across the ring from him in a few weeks time.
Yet myself and others get criticised for saying as such weeks ago. This fight is pointless and a foregone conclusion. Wilder just wants one last pay day before he retires.
Wilder is embarrassing haha. Shane Fury at the end to one of Wilder's hanger ons, "and you, sit over there. You sausage."
Thought it was interesting about the trying to get up to 300ib statement and running him over like a truck. The days of Fury fighting off the back foot are gone. Maybe it was the first Wilder fight or even the Wallin fight that highlighted to Fury that his footwork had left him and that he was no longer quick enough or elusive enough to try on it. Maybe it's age or the way he's treated his body during his exodus but I quite like this more physically imposing version.
I agree with that. Although people credited his movement in the first Wilder bout, I thought from the first round that it was obvious that he couldn't relive the standard in movement and defence from the Klitschko bout. I put it down to the hiatus and wasn't sure if he could bring it back, and it seems like he can't. He's just not the same, but he is talented enough to change styles and his movement is still good enough to be a problem. There's something about this bout that just seems a bit odd, though. I don't know what it was. Fury looks like he's taking it lightly and seriously believing his own hype against Wilder, but I doubt that he would feel the same if faced against Joshua or Usyk. I don't think that he can take Wilder lightly. He could have egg on his face after this.
I think his footwork and movement are still really good - he's probably not quite as fleet footed as when he was 27 pre-hiatus, but still the best (relative to his size) in the division aside from Usyk. I think his change in style is more tactical. He knows that boxing off the back foot against Wilder is risky. He needs to lose concentration for a second and could lose the fight despite winning every round prior. The best strategy with Wilder is to get him out of there as quickly as possible leaving as little opportunity as possible for a heavy Wilder shot that KO's him. Wilder can't match him for size/strength so he can just bully him. I think he'd probably do the same vs Usyk. I predict against Joshua he'd go back to more pure boxing as Joshua is far stronger than Wilder/Usyk and wouldn't be bullied by Fury.
In that presser, Wilder looked soulless, scared and his trainer doing all the talking for him and someone in crowd shouting "bombsquad, two time" doesnt look very convincing. Soon as Fury connects Wilder will revert to type. Fury has supreme confidence and Wilder none! Wilder is 'getting his wig pushed back' lol!
I could seeing going either way. Wilder is extremely limited, useless on back foot foot, gets out boxed by below average boxer, avoided power punchers his whole career and appears to be chinny. Whilst Fury I am left unconvinced he is anywhere near the standard he was prior his coke & eating binge retirement. Fought such poor opposition it's hard to judge what level he is really at. Even in Fury prime he displayed he was chinny so Wilder still has a chance. Not that interested in the fight as the winner of this wouldn't be allowed by the handlers to fight the winner of AJ vs Usyk anyway. The winner will carry fighting low opponents.
Joshua has been in one 50-50 bout in his career and that was against Fury's sloppy, inactive and old seconds in Wembley (of course), who he went life and death with, so you can't really talk about poor opposition. Joshua, in fact, lost to a poor opponent in Pudding Rice Jr, so I don't know what you think that says.
So AJ is being criticised because he's that good only one fight was viewed as 50/50. Fought majority of the top guys (Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Ruiz, Pulev and is now likely to fight Usyk) and attempted to make fights against the rest (Fury, Wilder and Ortiz) but they didn't want to know. As far as losing to poor opponents if wasn't for poor refs Fury would of lost to McDermott and could of lost to terrible cut against the at the time outside the top 40 Wallin.
I questioned your comments, as you know your stuff and it is simply crazy talk to completely discount a massive puncher like Wilder. Yes, Fury is favourite, but it should not be a shock to anybody, if he was to get laid out or something unpredictable happens such as a cut stoppage etc. This is not a video game - anything can happen. There is also nothing to indicate that Wilder is “mentally shot” from the press conference. I was expecting him to be ranting and raving about conspiracies etc and then I may have agreed with the statement. However, he was able to follow the plan, no doubt set up by his Team to not try to engage with Fury, as Tyson will just make him look foolish and give him the opportunity to plant a seed in his head again.
By next month, Fury will have faced a top opponent four times, winning all of them (which is still not a lot). Your argument is a tired one, because it's obvious that there is a significant gulf in class between the actual top men and the rest. Joshua is facing steady Eddies who are useless at the top level. You must be getting a bit desperate citing McDermott I. That's what happens when you are put in 50-50 fights from the start of your career. Fury has been in many 50-50 bouts, has won all of them, and thereafter became a better boxer for every subsequent bout (or near enough). Joshua got absolutely whooped by a small, morbidly obese man who couldn't even wobble the ghost of Liakhovich (and others). That's a stain on his record that will never be expunged. This is precisely why many of us are calling for the top boxers to face each other, because there is such a gulf in class that these other bouts are foregone conclusions. I don't hear you moaning about Joshua buying a belt off of Martin, then defending it against **** poor opposition like Molina, Breazeale and Takam. One 50-50 in his 8 year career.
I stopped reading there lol ffs you are slating Klitschko because of his age and calling Wilder a “top opponent”.
