This is a sci fi thread, imagine being thrust into 1938. What would you tell Heavyweight Champion Joe Louis? What would you tell him about the future of heavyweights, the ongoing modern nutrition (steroid use), the names of the future opponents for him, Marciano for example. You are thrust back in time listening to an old fashioned Cathedral radio from the 1930's.

I would say to Joe Louis to start lying about his height and weight so people who have never boxed would choose him over men he never fought.

Ha Ha, I totally agree with you, seems like size matters today. See what Ivan Drago created with his Steroid injections in 1985, back then, before that Rocky 4 movie, fighters were a normal height and weight, modern nutrition, my big toe, Lol.

During The Great Depression?, We were not involved with World War II yet. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was our commander in chief.

Don't touch the drugs, whatever you do. It will ruin your life, Joe.

I would tell him that in 2015, a future challenger for the heavyweight title, will show up to the press conference wearing a Batman costume. Of course 1938 would be a full year before Batman cartoon even debuts, so the look of befuddlement on his face would be twice as priceless had I told him in say 1940.

I'd also tell him there is a black HW champion in who would lose his title to said fighter years later, and this black former champion would use every excuse in the book for his loss, to include racism. Imagine for a moment, the racism that existed in 1938, and Joe's look of total discouragement that some sorry sap in 2021 is playing the race card for his beatdown.

Tell him that he should rest happy and proud that he's ranked #2 all time at heavy behind Ali. Quite an accomplishment.

I’d find a bookie. Hopefully bring one of those sports almanacs with me.

Law of unintended consequences could see him set out to seduce Odessa leading to the birth of:

    CASSIUS LOUIS.

Very often he is rated #1.

Holding the Undisputed HW title for nearly 12 years, a record # of successful defenses despite fighting suspended in his prime when nobody could touch him (as per his numerous WW2 exhibitions), & an incredible 69-3 record are some of his qualifications.

I have always said, you can only fight the opponents that are available in your era, many question Joe Louis opposition, comparing today's champions vs Joe's. Louis cannot fight someone else's opponents, past or present, now that sounds like a science fiction movie.
