How good could he have become? He looked great against Taylor. Strong, endless stamina, damaging punches. He looked good against Quartey, too.

Why did he retire? If he had focused more on his boxing, avoided lay-offs...

I wish I knew that answer. I was a big fan, as well.

I was surprised when he beat meldrick, although I think the Norris fight permanently wrecked him

He was a very good fighter. Tall, busy and really good power. He was neck and neck with a peak Quartey in a good scrap.

Funnily enough Quartey himself left us wanting a lot more himself. Inactivity and diminished motivation seemed to be a common denominator between them coming off losses.

    The Quartey fight is brilliant.

He was apparently a marathoner, helping explain his great stamina. I think the Taylor fight result tells more about where Taylor was than anything particular about Espana, though he looked good enough there. Good jab, decent power. He gave Quartey a great fight before finally succumbing. There just aren't a lot of world-class efforts to go on with him. Like so many others, bat an eye and he was gone already.
