None of those were as submissive and weak as Thompson, but those fights show what Wlad is capable of. The fact that he didn't perform as well against a weaker opponent is what is so disappionting.

It doesn't make Wlad a bad fighter all of a sudden, we just want to see him do what we know he is capable of doing.

I cannot believe someone just referenced Holmes and a killer instinct. ****ing Larry Holmes? A fighter who let a ton of stiffs go into later rounds or the distance? Jesus...

Submissive is relative. Until the final knockout, TT still had his high guard up.

Wasn't the thread directed at the Thompson performance..??

I had a fighter fight on the Wlad v Byrd card and he looked fantastic...
I saw first hand the Brock win.. although Brock wasn't ready , he did a great consise job..

I saw the state of Brewster before the second fight , he came for the cash and performed like it too.. Fat Lazy and uninterested, but Wladimir stuck to his game and hurt him like he ought to.. solid win..

    Not so critical..

I like the way he survived knockdowns over Peter to maintain his composure and take the points victory.. Although the knockdowns do make me wonder about his over all resistance against a true banger..
same old story.. But like i stated about Saturday evening..

He just didn't convince against a man who was almost waving the white flag from round 9 on.. He just settled for the just comfortable win..

Like he did against Ibragimov. Defensively obsessed..

I am a Wlad Klitscko fan and have worked for him and Fritz in the past in the States getting him good sparring .. I just tell the truth..

Needs to step out of being mediocre or it will effect his standings in the HOf or in his legacy..

How he wants to be remembered , as the champ who did just enough in those big events..

I hear what your saying he had a wounded duck in front of him but couldn't pull the trigger ..I think that also has to do with Wlad's chin not to say he is chinney but the fact that in the past when he pressed he got caught ..What you get now is a more cautious Wlad as opposed to a big finisher ..I don't think now he's the type of fighter that looks for the KO but waits more for it to come to him ..And if he can't get it then oh well ..

I read an article in ring magazine giving a preview of the klitschko Thompson fight. It said basically what happend during the fight except they predicted a decision. it wasn't So if Vlad exceeded the experts what right do some of you have to complain. The Only thing that I wish could have happened is that Vlad could have thrown the left hook after the right a few more times and gone to the body a few more times. However he stuck to their game plan so you have to recognize that mental discipline.

Thus he was open to body shots, and his peek-a-boo guard meant he was open to uppercuts. But instead Wlad stuck with the safety-first jab-straight right combination which most of the time hit nothing but gloves/arms.

I have never seen the division as weak as it is today. Wlad is just slightly better than his oponents and some of his performances look just plain ugly and unskillful. Today's heavys are lacking in desire, skills, and even simple conditioning.

But as I pointed out above, Wlad is capable of demolishing the style Thompson used. He just chose not to take any risks.

I totally agree with you in that sense, but Wlad showed improvement.

Uppercuts? Inside game? It isn't ****, it is flatout non-existent.

But Wlad actually went to the body, something he has NEVER had to do.

So I am going to give his ass some credit that after 300 or so fights, he adjusted midway through the fight and went to the body, even though he DID NOT go to the body enough, but it is something he never did before.

And in all honesty, he may never have to go the body again, but now he has that experience he can switch that button on faster.

Inside game? I have begged for it for years, but I just don't think Wlad feels it is a priority because of his dominance on the outside. If Wlad ever through a Lennox uppercut, I woudl **** myself and bet my house Wlad would never lose again.

I just disagree with you, Drexl. Did he take risks? Yes. Did he take as many as we would hope him to? Of course not. But whatever manner leads to him having one of the highest "tyson index's" across all divisions and leads to face first knockouts, I am fine with that.

I have. Post Ali to Pre Evander/Lennox was about as terrible as you can possibly get.
