Decent numbers for a new star who isn't a heavyweight, especially against a guy everyone expected to be KO'ed quickly. Will be interesting to see how well he draws against a bigger name in a fight that fans are more excited about. I'd love it if he became a big star but him being Japanese, not speaking English and without a truly huge star to build his reputation on, I suspect he'll never cross over into the mainstream like other lower weight punchers like Pac and Hamed.
Not a weaboo myself but lets face the facts: Japan makes countries like Britain Germany or the United States look like **** holes in comparison to them, crime rates are ridiculously low, people on average have a much higher IQ, the place is clean as ****, the artistic scene there is probably the only one in the world that still produces high quality stuff like the west used to do decades ago. Oh and they are the only nation that is not full of fatsos even though they are very rich unlike all the other countries that have a comparable GDP per capita, Oh and they are the only nation that is not full of fatsos even though they are very rich unlike all the other countries that have a comparable GDP per capit.
Very good numbers given his weight class and the competition he was up against during that time slot.
Well, Japan is dense populated country with more inhabitants than U.K. Tickets price might be above average western euro pricing and arenas still might be sold out ( before covid ). Japanesses usually doesn't need to listen long trash talks, they prefer to watch fighting. For a reason Japan was some target for K1 in it's golden era.
I'm sure he's already a big star in Japan, he's fighting in some of the largest arena's they have when he fights on home soil. I was talking about him becoming a global star who's recognised as a star all over the world.
Yeah. WBSS had placed his final fight in Japan, Saitama Super Arena. Saitama looks that does have capacity approx 36500. Will see. Japan might be good place where to earn with him : mass media, tickets sales, broadcasting. Maybe Japan will develop some big networks with ppvs? They does have very good internet quality and I think japanesses will willingly pay to see his fights on ppvs. The big problem for western market maybe will be his size. Small boxers usually are lesser popular in western countries.
Very interesting culture. I trained twice, 45 days at a clip, with the Japanese ground defense unit back in the day. Each trip was educational and I also discovered there are places as an American I was not allowed to visit must less pop in at and have a drink
All well and good but they also have an ageing population and they really need to be open to more immigration if they want to get birth rates up and the age of the population down. Also they have a horrendous work culture which sees people work ridiculous hours and suicides are a big issue.
